I like the point that you brought up about children adapting to life in the city. We have talked about men adjusting and we talked about women adjusting but the one group we haven’t talked about is children adjusting to the cites of the north. It brings up an interesting point men and women made the choice to go up north but the children were forced to go so it must have been difficult for them. I also like the fact you brought up the idea of the man being a provider rather than a nurture. The scenarios that we talked about when it came to the great migration and family’s men were seen as providers and the mother was the nurtures. That is even true to this day men are taught to be providers rather than nurtures, being a provider is good but
I found many parts of this essay relatable regarding the culture, one of which was how the narrator talked about the father always taking the “scenic route” to their grandparent’s house. Still to this day, I can’t convince my dad to listen to Google Maps because he wants to go the “scenic route” and Google Maps doesn’t know what it’s talking about. Another part that I found very interesting was when the narrator moved away from her hometown and then would come back to visit. I find as though when I travel back home, many of my friends think differently of me because I took off to the “big city” and am too high class for our little town. Next, I couldn’t imagine what the narrator was going through as she transitioned from a female to male in a town like this.
It is always important to ensure care and sensitivity in children. Children with communication difficulties such as: -
To maintain a positive relationship with children and young people it is important to adapt the variation of communication levels. Communication adaptations for a child may be because of their age. The age of a child will play a massive part in communicating as you will have to adapt the extent or communication and vocabulary used as they won't have a broad range. The context when communicating with children may be less formal to ensure the child understand what is happening. Children of a young age have various levels of attention and is important to try and keep the child interested until the task is finished, this can be done by showing support and reassurance to their work and also to keep listening to what they are trying to do and show.
In this writing it will be discussing childhood development, as well as some vital issues that might come along during those stages of development. Child development consist of the stage where the child is developing physically, cognitively, socially and spiritually. During these stages of development a child is maturing from infancy to becoming a young adult. For many years theorist such as Sigmund Freud, Erik Erikson, and Lev Vygotsky’s have researched how children mature from infants to adulthood. Each of the theorist have profound facts to how children develop, but which of the three men are correct on their findings?
Behavoural problems amongst students, appears to be an ongoing issue faced by many classroom teachers, which creates significant barriers to academic and social success. This essay will outline some of the factors that underpin the focus child’s challenging behavours and will discuss how a functional approach may be utlised to effectively address and manage these behaviours.
Childhood shapes character as an adult, it can show the people and their childhood. In this essay I will be giving you examples of how childhoods shape character as an adult.
The concept also explains how individuals and families influence the environments. In the human ecology, the individuals and the environment are considered to be interconnected in active process in which there is mutual influence and change. The theory was also developed to explain the five systems in human being. The first system is microsystem. It refers to the groups and institution that most immediately and directly have impact on the child 's development. It includes the family, school, neighborhood, religious institutions and peers. It was developed to explain how these elements influence the development of the child (Mancini & Roberto, 2009).
How do children develop? Development in children is a fragile process with many different influences. Most children develop normally without any issues, however 1 in 60 children suffer from Autism Spectrum Disorder throughout their lives (“Facts About Autism” n.d.). In fact the number of children who suffer from the Autistic Spectrum Disorder has grown over the last decade (“Facts About Autism” n.d.). Autism is a brain disorder that usually shows up in childhood and carries on throughout adulthood. Autism makes it difficult to talk and relate to other people, and causes difficulties in social interaction. How much it effects you varies, you can be on the low end of the spectrum or the high end of the spectrum. However, every child that has ASD develops at a slower rate than the children that develop normally. It doesn’t affect children mentally however; many very smart people have autism, such as Albert Einstein, Amadeus Mozart, Sir Isaac Newton, and Charles Darwin (“Famous People With Autism” n.d.). Autism affects children socially more than anything thing else, but how does autism effect children’s social development throughout their childhood and the rest of their lives?
An experience in my life that has influenced development is motherhood. In 2015 I decided I wanted to return to school because I wanted my children to have financial security well that motive changed after a while, it became about their potential and how watching me grow they would learn to grow too. Fall 2015 I was enrolled in a student success course and the first thing we learned was about fulfilling ones potential. Something I have never thought of before, so I had to think hard about it, what is my potential. I wrote a very moving essay on filling my potential and how important it was to me. Through that I learned how to shape and mold my children’s potential as well.
Childhood is an exceptional and progressive time of physical, behavioral, cognitive, and emotional development (Cozolino, 2010). The brain and its biological stress system are genetically programmed and influenced by early experience. Trauma has developmental consequences on children. Developmental traumatology research is “systemic investigation of the psychiatric and psychobiological impact of the overwhelming and chronic interpersonal violence on the developing child” (De Bellis, 2001, p. 539). It combines frameworks from developmental psychopathology, developmental neuroscience, and stress and trauma research (De Bellis, 2001). Child maltreatment experiences can be defined as neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and witnessing of domestic violence or community violence and these may be the most common causes of interpersonal traumas in children and adolescence (De Bellis, 2001).
The transition from childhood to adulthood is a gradual one, marked by milestones, special events, and most importantly, obstacles. There are certain experiences that most people are exposed to such as getting their first job, going through the first breakup, and graduating high school. Regardless of these "common" events, everyone has a different experience growing up that molds them into the person they grow up to be. There's no such thing as a negative experience because everything shapes us in it's own way, adding character, strength, and a unique perception.
The purpose of this assignment is to examine if childhood has changed in the past 40 to 50 years. For the assignment I interviewed a 9 year old African American female and a 54 year old African American female. During my interview I found out that childhood has changed tremendously. Morals and values have been subsided due to priorities. Then on the contrary stress has taken a dramatic rise due to more children being raised in a single-parent home. In this paper I covered these basic areas: family history, school, friends, and extra-curricular activities.
Parents have one of the biggest roles in ensuring that their children grow well and in a healthier manner from the time they are born until they become adults. It is very necessary for any parent to ensure that they have ample knowledge about all the parenting roles they need to play. It is necessary that a parent understand the stages involved in childhood development because children need to be handled differently at the various stages. With this knowledge, it will be easier for a parent to apply the right techniques, to ensure healthy development and growth. It will be wrong for a parent to handle a child who is between two to five years they way they handle a child who is ten years old. The knowledge about child development is also necessary because it will be easier to determine if the child is growing in the right way. A parent will know all the characteristics that a child should demonstrate during the different development stages, so if there is any issue in development, it will be handled effectively as early as possible. In overall, childhood development helps a parent be able bring up children in the right way to ensure they become responsible and healthy adults (Ninivaggi, 2013).
Arguably, the most vital and significantly influential time in the development of a person’s being is during their childhood years.
Childhood is best defined as a transitional period when a child learns the social and behavioral aspects of life as well as his or her own beliefs. As stated in Journal of Marriage and Family, the relationship between adults and children is arguably the most impactful aspect of childhood. The way in which a parent raises their child will affect the type of person they become in the future. Learning to be a sociable person will help children one make friends and partnerships in the future. Having good behavior will help maintain these relationships, and being confident and knowledgeable about your own beliefs will make you a respectable person. The best way for children to familiarize themselves with these traits is through lessons,
