Achievement and Intelligence Assessments It is critical counselors are competent in assessments as it is an integral part of counseling (Whiston, 2013). Those practicing in the counseling field must be aware of the applications and limitations of the assessing instruments that they are using with clients. Counselors should consider that they are responsible for the proper purpose and the competency of the assessment that they are using with their clientele is appropriate for the situation. The American Counseling Association ([ACA], 2014) Code of Ethics standard E.1.a. Assessment stated “The primary purpose

I wanted to bring up the fact that the American Counseling Association ([ACA], 2014) Code of Ethics has one standard in particular that is important for us right now. The E.6.a, Appropriateness of Instruments points out to us that counselor needs to be sure that the assessments administered to the client are appropriate (ACA, 2014). Jadine you should understand that the ACT is a completely appropriate assessment for you at this time to help you consider your future academic career. Do you feel as if you could take the ACT now?
Client: Oh yes, I understand it now, and think it sounds fine. I will take it.
Jadine proceeds to take the ACT, completing it in the allotted time. I meet to with her now to review her scores.
Counselor: Jadine, good to see you again. I have received the scoring for the ACT assessment you took and am ready to review them with you.
Client: Awesome! I am a little nervous to know how I scored, but I feel like I did ok.
Counselor: The scores can range from 1 to 36 for a composite score. Your composite score was a total 21, which is averaged by the total of the four subcategories. Your subscale scores for each section were as follows: English 24, Math 19, Social Studies Reading 23, and Science was 18. That gives you a ranking of 59% in the United States. Your 59% ranking means that 59% “of the students received scores that are the same or lower than you
Case Manager Comments: Reed, it has been a very good start of this Fall 2015. I have seen you working from the very first days. I am glad that you have already met your tutors and worked on your coming assignments. I am sure that you will successfully end this term.

Becoming acquainted with a potential client’s history, personality and present concerns is necessary in forming a foundation for counseling interventions. This information gathering phase is referred to as assessment (Mears, 2010). While some mental health professionals will use an interview as their primary assessment tool, others will utilize testing
Test worthiness is utilized to determine if an assessment/test is appropriate or suitable to be used. The four criteria for an assessment consist of validity, reliability, cross-cultural fairness, and practicality (Neukrug & Fawcett, 2015). These characteristics should resemble a how a counselor should portray themselves in a Christian worldview because a Christian must be able to utilize testing in a trustworthy manner that would allow for critical thinking to make the best interpretation to treat and encourage clients/patients that is worthy of their humanity. It is important to be able to provide a testing that is consistent and accurate in able to provide an understanding that leads to a better conceptualization and treatment plan. Being
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with your company. After our conference call last month, I was very exciting to work with you to provide many different services to your clients.
Largely, the entire test proved thought provoking as this was a subjective test. Meaning everyone's values are not the same, everyone is not driven by the same motives. This could be problematic in obtaining valid results. It has given this writer cause to carefully examine assessments that are being administered clients. Reliability and validity have a great importance in how counselor should utilize assessments and can assist in finding appropriate instruments in order to be more effective with clients.

I took the SAT my Junior year and I received a 1450 composite score. I was very pleased with this score. My reading/writing scores were slightly higher than my math scores, but I performed well on both sections. I would say that my strengths lay in the grammar section. This part of the SAT is my favorite part. I enjoy having set rules to follow and reading the passages. I also like the reading section, especially when I find the passages interesting. Math is probably my weakness, though I am still very skilled in this section. Occasionally, I struggle to remember things I learned a few years ago and miss a problem.
Therefore we did a brief recap of what happening in the last meeting to make sure we are on the same page. After the review, I practiced the sessional contracting skill to
- The client replies back to the client's comments regarding his family and technology. Great quick rapport!
Over the past decade students of all ages have been testing more frequently. Not only has it been tests given out by the specific teacher, but students had been having too take more standardized tests. Now the students, parents, and even some of the teachers are curious as to why the state requires so many tests to be given out. Some parents ask, how all of these tests affecting my child are. Also whether it be a positive or negative change, students are effecting form all of these tests.
How important is testing for college admission actually? Well, I’d say it isn’t the determining factor, but still is a fairly large component in the selection of applicants. Here’s why.
What is the ACT? Nearly every college-bound student in the United States of America is required to take the ACT to be allowed enrollment. ACT stands for “American College Testing” and is vital for students who want to work in advanced carriers or specialised fields. Not everyone who even takes the test knows all they should about it. The ACT is unique to any other test in what it is and what the scores represent for the students taking it.
I had a tie for my two highest categories being physical health and spiritual health. I think these two were the highest because I tend to focus more on these categories than anything else in terms of health. I want to be able to live a long life so I try to make sure that I do some type of physical exercise every day. Spiritual health helps me to find my center and to not let things distract me so much. It helps to have this because when things go wrong you need somewhere to turn to. My lowest score turned out to be in environmental health. It was low because I don’t ever seem to think about what I’m doing when it comes to the environment. If I have trash and a recycle bin is nearby then I will throw it in the
