A third reason leading to the increase in academic dishonesty is the pure and simple fact that once a student cheats on a paper or any type of homework assignment and does not get caught and reprimanded for their actions, the more that student believes that they can keep doing it without getting caught. The more and more that a student cheats and gets away with it the more the student feels that they are invisible and can continue doing it. This is a sad occasion when this happens because the student is only hurting themselves. They are not hurting their parents or their teachers because they are not the ones that are going to be getting a job from this education it is the student that is hurting the students.

The type that is hardest for me is remembering to do the in-text cite. Correcting it is and should be a little more easier than I make it seem. Remember to use in text citation and put quotation marks around what the writer quoted. That way I would be giving the credit to the author or publisher for what they have written. I will then be avoiding plagiarism and will not have to worry about getting put out of school for it. Therefore, I will be able to continue my career goal of completing this degree.

He supports this claim by saying that the parties to blame here is the school system and the media. Therefor, students think it is correct to do be dishonest in their class work.

Many heroes start in different planets or in popular places. But my hero starts in a little town in Texas. He is kind and loves to help people with things. His story starts when it was just an ordinary day at school. Andrew was his on his way to his reading class when he heard the new girl crying. He stops to ask her what was wrong, and she responded by saying “I’m going to fail the first test in a month.” Andrew said no you are not, meet me after school, and I will help you study for your test.

“Pshh, let me see number four,” is probably something we have all heard or seen someone do during a test. Did you know that 85 percent of adolescents participate in academic dishonesty before graduating high school? As I jotted down ideas, I came up with the concept of cheating because I see many people in my surrounds doing it. The categorical and numerical questions I came up with in my study are, “What subject would you cheat on, if you were in need for a good grade? If you were given 10 problems, how many problems would you cheat on?”

The history of America is mirrored in American Literature. The American dream, the idea of equality and being able to achieve anything you wanted, meant that millions of immigrants moved to America. America claims to be a country which enables everyone to have equality and freedom however in the texts we can see it is rather a Capitalist and individualist country. The paradox of America can be seen through the fact that the Statue called freedom was built by slaves. The inequality can also be seen through the experience of individuals such as Abraham Lincoln who was assassinated for trying to abolish slavery. The reflection of America through texts such as ‘The Great Gatsby’, ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ and the poems of Sylvia Plath shows the tragic face of America, in which ‘representatives of the upper class are engaged in acts of egotism, self-aggrandizement, and heartlessness.’ In these texts, the American Dream is different for each character as it varies from having money to being a perfect wife or mother. Underneath the concept of the American dream lays America’s reality of a harsh world which proves that not many can have the American Dream but rather their dreams will turn into their nightmare as they live in a country based on Darwin’s idea of ‘Survival of the fittest’. These texts show that those who accept what they have are able to achieve their dream however those who want everything and strive to have everything find that their dream turns into a nightmare

Academic dishonesty is another facet of unethical behaviour. It is an action or attempt that results in creating an unfair academic advantage for oneself or a disadvantage for any other member of academic community. A child uses his or her experiences in society to shape personal ethics. Family has a strong influence on one's values and behaviour,parents establish rules from the start and it becomes the basis for our ethics and morals. A personal ethical commitment is part of what makes students a success. A lack of ethical commitment will always result in acdemic failure. I personally believe that students who are academically dishonest cheat themselves out of an education and harm their fellow students by screwing the grading curve for the class as a whole. Therefore academic ethics are vital and students should commit themselves to maintaining highest personal ethical standards.
