“Abortion is always wrong” Discuss.
There are situations that even the actual birth of the baby will cause a serious problem to the mother. If we think about the case of a young teenage girl who get pregnant early, or the situation of a middle school girl who was rape, we would see it's very dangerous to force her to keep the baby. There could be serious repercussions if she does not get the nutrition she needs during her pregnancy or correct pre-natal care. Death rate during birth and chances for a premature or otherwise unhealthy baby is also dramatically higher among young mothers. We have no right to ask her to take a great danger just to give birth to unwanted child. We should respect her decision whether or not she will keep the

When women decide to terminate a pregnancy, they are disturbed for a long time due to knowing they are killing a child. This does not necessarily faze them until after the procedure is done. Many years after, women will need to get counselling because they know in their hearts the right thing to do.
Many people will say that rape is a reason to keep abortion legal. These people will say that this is ok under these circumstances. However, abortion is wrong if always looking at the perspective of the child. Killing a child is wrong no matter what is going on with the mother. But rape can also be considered a non argument because usually there can be so much fighting in the condition of a rape that a pregnancy is not likely to happen. Rape has one of the least percentages of people getting pregnant as a result. Therefore this cannot be used as an argument against practices such as this of any
The morality of abortion is a topic that has long been discussed by both those for and against the act. Until 1972 when the Supreme Court case of Roe v. Wade made abortion legal in all 50 states, the act of getting an abortion was illegal in many states. Both sides of the moral arguments explain the reasoning behind their arguments. The moral question is if the act of getting an abortion is the same as murdering another human being.
Ever since the case of Roe v. Wade in 1973, abortion has been one of the most contentious issues in our society. In some cases people think abortion is murder, in others, it’s reasonable for some cases. Then there are people who use it just to take advantage of it. The legal stance of abortion is a hot topic in today’s society.
If you are pregnant and still in high school, college, or unemployed the thought of having a child is scary. Thoughts of how you would be able to manage your pregnancy and still take care of your responsibilities will go through your head. No child should be brought into this world and not be taking care of. A federal study has been found that 22,000 babies after left in a hospital every year because parents are unable to take care of them. “A survey taken in September of 2005 on peer-reviewed journal Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health asking women why they would have an abortion studies found that 73% of participants said they could not afford to have a baby, and 38% claimed giving birth would interfere with their education and career
Many would argue that the mother could be a rape victim, or that it was just a mistake that she became pregnant, so it is unfair that she should be obligated to have the child. Of course, I sympathize with the rape victim and believe what happen to her is unfair and cruel, but I do not believe that killing the baby would be the solution. From the article in our reading by Judith Jarvis Thomson, A Defense of Abortion, she says: “Every person has a right to life. So the fetus has a right to life. No doubt the mother has a right to decide what shall happen in and to her body; everyone would grant that. But surely a person's right to life is stronger and more stringent than the mother's right to decide what happens in and to her body, and so outweighs it. So the fetus may not be killed; an abortion may not be performed.” (Judith Jarvis Thomson, A Defense of Abortion). It’s as if the reason for the author saying that the abortion is not to be performed is due to the fact that the baby’s life is important or sacred. What right do we have to take an innocent, sacred life with no other gain then to prevent a “possible” harm to the mother or others, which differs from the previous paragraph’s examples to the extent that it was to absolutely prevent harm or
However, keeping the child would mean having the responsibility to properly take care of another human life. If it is YOUR child, it is YOUR liability. Not being able to provide that sort of stability would be risking a child’s happy and healthy future. In one study, unwanted children were less likely to have a secure family leading to higher chances of participation in criminal acts and lower self-esteem. Do you think it is right to withhold a woman’s wishes to potentially save their child from
I believe that elective abortion is wrong and should be declared illegal. Abortion should be a last resort, and used only if the life of the mother or baby is at risk. Elective abortion is the interruption of a pregnancy before the twentieth week of gestation. This type of abortion is done at the request of the woman for reasons other than maternal health of fetal disease. The debate over abortion is broken down into different sides: pro-life and pro-choice. Roughly fifty-one percent of people in the United States of America are pro-choice, or believe that women should have unrestricted access to abortion. The other forty-nine percent of people are pro-life, or are against all forms of abortion with no exceptions. There is, however, a select group of pro-life activist who have slightly different views. Some believe that only elective abortion should be made illegal, and exceptions can be made for those who face life-threatening situations during the pregnancy. Pro-choice activist argue that women should have the right to choose whether or not to give birth to the child. Moreover, those activists will point out that a child should not come into the world unwanted. Pro-life activist will argue that abortion eliminates the potential societal contributions of that future human being. Another point made by pro-life activist is that abortion should not be used as a form of contraception. The debate over the legality of abortion has led to the government stepping in. In 1973, a
Abortion has become a serious topic in American culture today. If you were to ask someone on their street whether they were Pro-Life or Pro-Choice odds are they would know exactly what you were talking about and then be able to give a clear statement of their opinion on the matter. This issue has provoked many strong opinions in people around the country, so much so that the act of abortion has been petitioned to become an illegal procedure. There are many reasons to support abortion along with hate it, but when it all comes down to it the real issue is not in regards to science but rather to morals. Abortion is morally wrong and should be illegal.
It could be argued that as the child could not possibly survive independently of the mother, at least before approximately four months into the pregnancy, it is not yet an independent human being, but an attachment of the mother, therefore she should be allowed to terminate it, if this is what she wants to do to herself, as opposed to when the child is physically independent of the mother, when any potentially life ending action against it would be inflicted upon the child directly, not its mother (Kellough 35).
We can all agree that abortion is a controversial issue debated in our society today, especially in Texas, which is one of the most conservative’s states in the nation. Some people argue that abortion is morally wrong, because it has to do with ending a life which, according proponents begins at conception, not at birth. Others contest that it is a woman 's constitutional right to make reproductive decisions, particularly in situations of rape, incest, and health risks. In this paper I will survey the viewpoints regarding abortion presented by conservatives, Christian scholars, and advocates of women 's reproductive rights.
Abortion is the act of killing a defenseless human. Pregnancy has been regarded as a problem because teens and non teens, especially unmarried, are seen as incapable of providing children with their needs in today’s world, because of this, abortion is chosen. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.
I believe that abortion is wrong and it’s a social problem. I think that it is wrong to have an abortion because life begins at conception. Abortion is no different to murder as it is the act of taking a human life. As in California penal code 187 says murder is an unlawful killing of a human being, or a fetus with malice. I think the above definition is an easier and less aggressive way to say that abortion is the murdering of a human being. No civilized society should permit any person to intentionally hurt or take the life of another human without any type of punishment, and abortion should not be different.
In America, abortions are legal. Sacrificing an unborn life in this world should be illegal. They cannot speak for themselves and don’t have a choice to live or die. Abortion should be illegal.
Every single year, this silent horror kills about as many Americans as have been killed on all the battlefields in all of the wars in U.S. history combined according to Michael Snyder. Every time an abortion takes place, a innocent human is being killed. Some people call it murder. Every since 1973, the Roe v. Wade case on abortion this subject has been a world controversy, and the supreme court division gave women the right, in consultation with their physicians, to choose abortion (Gale). After 1973, abortion was not illegal anymore. Ever since, this has been a major issue. Yes, people make mistakes, but people have to live with their mistakes. Abortion should not be an option to anyone except in a few specific situations. Abortion not only is very bad for the mother's health, it can also lead to complications for later babies down the road. Every human has rights. Every human has the right to be protected whether he or she is in the womb or standing alone. The fetus is still a human. Abortion is morally wrong. Not only in some religions, but is wrong period. Killing a baby is not a way to fix the mistake made. There are only a couple specific situations where any woman should try and argue the reason why they should get an
Everyday there are approximately 125,000 abortions performed all over the world. This is 125,000 innocent children whose lives were ended for them by their own parents. Abortion is cruel and unfair and should be illegal everywhere around the world. With abortion being cruel and unfair, it is completely immoral.
Abortion is defined as “The removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end the pregnancy” (dictionary.com). However, if only the debate over the abortion issue was as easy as the definition listed above. However, similar to most things in life, a statement or opinion is never right nor wrong, but simply left open for clarification. Those who are against abortion believe that abortion is the murder of innocent human beings who aren’t given a chance at life and the ability to function as a normal individual. However, those who are for abortion believe that it is a women’s right to choose what she does to not only her baby but
