There is little said about aboriginal people in early Australian history books. What we do know is that the view of Non-Aboriginal people was very ethnocentric. The opinion was that Aboriginal was that they were savages and
The indigenous cultures of Australia are one of the oldest living cultures in the world. Indigenous groups across Australia have many oral stories about their past, which form part of a great tradition of knowledge. These stories explain the Aboriginal genesis in a different parts of the country and reveal the shaping of a formless land by great ancestors. Aboriginal people of Australia have suffered through many crises, when the British colonised Australia in 1788. Many Aboriginal people from different cultures died at hands of British colonial. There were not a lot of Aboriginal people in Australia in 19th century. Mostly, they inhabit in NSW, Queensland and Victoria. There are many cultures in NSW, one of the oldest culture in Sydney is the Darug, they are the traditional owners of Western and south Western areas of Sydney. The Darug nation is large in size and boasts many clans of Darug people. One of the clans called the Cabrogal. Cabramatta takes its name from the Cabrogal band of the Darug-speaking people that lived around Liverpool and Fairfield when the British first came to Australia.
To begin with, a clarification must be made. Although for the purposes of this assessment I will be using the term Indigenous Australians, it is not the most appropriate term to be using, as the technical definition of indigenous is ‘originating or occurring naturally in a particular place; native’ (‘Indigenous’, 1987). The more correct term would be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.
Australia is home to various, distinct indigenous population. The Waradjuri is New South Wales and the Noongar in Western Australia. Aboriginal populations are often grouped together and reffered to as “Aborigines” however, some consider the term pejorative. Legally, the native populations of Australia are reffered to as “Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders.”
I understand that the Aboriginal Australians groups are considered sacred. It's amazing, how their way of living is represented. I noticed with this particular indigenous tribe are nourish resources all over creation, so what others don't see as food, the aboriginals do. The bark of a tree, leaves and flowers can be food to them. These aboriginal use their adapt abilities skills very well. What I have noticed is that they're short on shelter there isn't any type of housing on their land like tents or a hut. Their health is well kept up, but there doesn't seem to be a government, or some types of economic system. Aboriginal Australian also gain knowledge to their environment to keep their environment and food resources safe. They take from their
One of the great untold truths of Australian history has been the courageous contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to the Australian Defence Force. These natives formed approximately 500 tribes, each associated with its own language and stretch of territory. Although the sizes of the tribes varied, they had much in common. The Aborigines were not natural cultivators of the land - fertile land was obviously scarce - and Australia (before the European colonisation) had no animals suitable for
Studies have shown that babies of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders descent are more two-three times more likely to be born prematurely then babies of non-Indigenous descent (Brown et al., 2016). Due to these results an evaluation will occur to determine the factors that are known to affect preterm birth. This assessment will focus on two peer reviewed articles and will reflect on the search strategy used, assess how each article relates to an increased knowledge of preterm birth factors and justify how their studies contribute to the role of the nurse from an ethical perspective.
In Aboriginal culture the language isn’t only a form of communication, it is used to mark territory. It is possible that people from tribe only fifty kilometres away cannot understand the other tribes language at all.
Archaeologists believe that aboriginals first came to Australia about 45, 000 years ago and were the only population of humans in Australia until the British invasion. There are about 500 different aboriginal groups each with their own language and territory and usually made up of several separate clans. The aboriginals of Australia are marginalised in today society. This marginalisation began right back during the British invasion where they were evicted from their own country, the stolen generation occurred and their health care, education, employment and housing was severely limited. Aboriginals generally live in poor conditions and choose unhealthy lifestyle choices
