strategies to assist people with ASD or other challenges by breaking down their behavior into small components. They consider the internal details. Others take a holistic view and look at the behavior so they details they consider are mainly external, from the environment for example.
The researcher felt that was the nature of focus group but to a larger degree a behavior of human nature, especially in groups where the participants know each other and work together. Therefore to head off a loss of control of the groups the participants were asked to rate topics that were popular in similar focus groups (Levy, Mandell and Schultz 2009; Pellicano et al. 2014). The strategy was used to integrate the topics into the focus groups that participants
Jobs change, schedules change, people change, etc. Another skill would be to be as friendly and outgoing as possible, which can pose a struggle for someone with ASD. Communication and social skills can get one far in life. In order to be employable, individuals with ASD need to know how to interact with other people in a socially acceptable manner. They need to know how to greet someone, make eye contact, carry on a conversation, ask for help, answer questions, and even answer a phone call.
Research has found that on average 33% of youths in the juvenile justice system are identified as disabled and eligible for special services. However, there has been little research studying the characteristics or prevalence rates of youth with ASD in the criminal justice system. Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) commonly have impairments in communication, social skills, deficits in abstract thoughts and specific interests that could prevent individuals with ASD from understanding legal and illegal behaviors. It is also suspected that the high rates of psychiatric comorbidity associated with ASD, for example ADHD, may increase the risk of delinquency in youth with ASD.
Four focus groups were held. The setting for the data collection was at an elementary school classroom. The researcher does not justify the use of the specific setting to the reader. It also did not states the impact the setting had on participant in terms of their emotions and participation level, it only stated that there some challenges. Observations and personal experience is an important avenue through which data can be collected (Holloway, I. and Wheeler, S. 2002). Therefore, it would have been essential for the researcher to highlight how participants responded to the focus group interviews and how the participants were observed.
The focus group is the mostly widely used in qualitative tools. A focus group discussion is to collect data through a group (8 to 10 participants) interaction and a moderator. The main objective of a focus group is to get in depth answers of consumers, and understand consumer attitudes and behavior on its products (Warren, C. A. B., & Karner, T. X., 2010). The group participants are selected carefully and discussions based on their experiences and views. In addition, researchers or clients can use one –way mirrors to observe participants’ opinions and behaviors. Moreover,
Another method that is commonly used as an intervention for students with ASD is the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM). ESDM is an inclusive behavioral intervention for infants to preschool-aged children (Dawson et al., 2009; Vivanti et al., 2014). The learning objectives are based on individual strengths and weaknesses, with a focus on developmental fields that are foundational to social and social-cognitive learning and development (Vivanti et al., 2014). The students with ASD work to enhance their verbal and nonverbal communication, emotion sharing, imitation, joint attention, play, social orienting, and attention (Rogers et al., 2012).
The article Family-Centered Management of Sensory Challenges of Children with Autism: Single-Case Experimental Design researched and designed a case study to discover sensory interventions for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Specifically, the participants were chosen from two child development clinics, between 3 to 5 years old, recently diagnosed ASD, and met four specific criterions for sensory challenges and ASD. The mothers were chosen as observers and to implement the sensory interventions and the visual analog scale (VAS). The VAS was uniquely created for each mother and child, including the language since the mothers only spoke conversational English. The observations and interventions occurred in the family homes and a

A.4. Impact. There is a critical need to design a novel strategy targeting ASD risk genes involved in the convergent pathways. Intriguingly, many of the genes implicated in ASD converge onto a few major signaling pathways: the synaptic function, chromatin remodeling, transcription, MAPK and Wnt pathways(6, 20, 21). Although it would be unlikely to have one treatment for all causes of ASD, genetic results present a possibility to target the convergent pathways or circuits thereby limiting the number of interventions. Among ASD risk genes, β-cat not only is a well-known essential component of the canonical Wnt signaling (81, 82), but also plays roles in other convergent pathways: synaptic function(83, 84) and epigenetic/ transcriptional
Focus group was the chosen data collection design by the PBL group. Polit & Beck (2017) argued that he benefits of this data collection include: cost-effective and time-effective; the participants feel empowered which encourage them to express freely their emotions and opinions therefore is enhanced the collection of rich data. The limitations associated with focus groups indicates to bias potential; the level of confidence of some of the participants to express themselves in front of others or the possibility to adopt the “group think” or the most powerful and vocal participant rather than expressing own perception (Ellis 2016). Neuman (2014) believes that mixing the participants with different status may impact on the study ' outcome as participants are more confident if they are sharing a similar background. Therefore, it was decided that the participants will be split in two focus groups: students
Individuals with ASD who enter secondary school will have access to regular school curriculum rather than special courses. However teachers may notice that these adolescents are unprepared to adapt to the education that is being provided nor are they able to meet state criteria. This paper, will present and will show difficulties yet while associated with learning how knowledgeable one with ASD can have an impact on academic performance and the families of adolescents with ASD. It will also present institutions that have successfully improved academic standards out of the population of adolescents with ASD. Repetitive behaviors at twelve months were shown to be similar to cognitive and symptomatic status at a thirty-six month result. Stating

One of the essential techniques of conducting a qualitative research is focus group. It consists of participants that should be representative of a local population. While qualitative research does not focus on precision, it does ensure richness of the researched topic. This paper will explore the benefit of a focus group as a means to research the topic presented to
The semi-structured focus group interview is a qualitative study, which goes for discovering what other individuals feel and think about the marvel which is explored (Rubin and Babbie, 1993:12). It speaks to a purposive open discussion where the researcher makes inquiries on a particular point where every member makes remarks. The researcher presents the subject and afterwards manages the discourse by the method for addressing. The researcher records both verbal and non-verbal correspondence from the participants. The semi-structured focus group interviews help the researcher to identify that communication improves information quality, governing rules on each other and a straightforward appraisal of cooperative energy and/or contrasts between participants (McMillan and Schumacher, 1993:157).
Autism Spectrum Disorder encompasses the titles of autistic disorder, Asperger’s disorder, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified, and it is the general understanding that social reciprocity skills are the core underlying feature of the Autism Spectrum Disorders(ASD). (White, 2006) Individuals who experience ASD have difficulty communicating with others, processing and integrating information from their environment, establishing and sustaining social relationships with others, and participating in new environments. (Bellini, 2007) These issues would understandably make the classroom environment difficult for a multitude of reasons, and their social limitations would arguably affect their learning experience, as many school
Also, the data collection instruments used in this research project was focus group format because it create a means for the researcher to observe the participant closely and it was less fearful for research participant because of the group settings, which created a collaborative understanding between members.
