July 28th, 1914 World War 1 had officially started and ended on November 11, 1918, but it wasn’t until April 25th, 1915 when the ANZAC legend was born and the legend is still alive to this day. The name ANZAC was given to the Australian and New Zealand Army Corp who fought in World War 1. Even though the ANZAC legend is remembered every year on ANZAC day some people believe the legend is a myth. But evidence collected by arrange of different source states that the legend accurately portrays the qualities of Australia’s and New Zealand World War 1 soldiers.
The ANZAC legend accurately portrays the ways the ANZAC acted and fought in World War 1. This is because the ANZAC legend is a theory which suggest that the Australian and New Zealand soldiers possessed many characteristics, especially the qualities those soldiers allegedly demonstrated on the battlefields of World War 1 (https://www.awm.gov.au/encyclopedia/anzac/spirit). As well as the ANZAC soldiers the ANZAC legend was also possessed by the Special Air Service and Australian Imperial Force (History Alive 9). Most of the ANZAC soldiers were young men full of practical jokes and hell-bent on having a good time and most just wanted an adventure. But when they landed at Gallipoli, they were bold and brave, loyal to their mates and daring to fight under the control of the British (Gallipoli Reckless Valour). Plans were drawn up to evacuate troops from Gallipoli, but were rejected by the British, this never effected them as the ANZAC’s courageously fought to the end of the fights at Gallipoli (http://www.army.gov.au/our-history/history-in-focus/WWI-gallipoli). Because of this and the ANZAC spirit Gallipoli became a house hold name.
