At this point of my life, any financial support will be appreciated because I do not get enough financial aid to pay for my tuition and my books. As a AB540 student, I do not get enough support from the financial aid department at San Jose State University. As a result, a 3,000 scholarship for my education will help me a help me a lot to pay for my school tuition, which is $ 4,000 for 5 classes that I take each semester. The $ 3,000 scholarships will help me breathe for a little bit because I am always stressed out about my financial situation, which limits me from buying the require textbooks for some of my classes. I must say that in some occasion, I do not buy the require textbooks for my classes because they are so expensive and I do not
In the PBS presentation Inventing America: Making a Nation, the Founding Fathers are brought together to discuss how our nation began as its own entity. Each of the Founding Fathers discussed a few of their contributions to the making of our nation, and how the rules we follow today were created with their help. An ethical question brought up in this presentation by the Founding Fathers was whether or not the British Parliament should be able to control North American colonies.
I graduated high school from Los Angeles Technology Center. My teacher thought I was going to drop out for being the first generation of immigrants enrolled in high school. They assumed my last stop of education would be attending continuation school. I was receiving many negative comments mostly stereotypes from my teacher, classmates and administrators. I did not know how to deal with it and had no psychological help. My counselor told me there was no point in being in continuation school. My classmates would tell me I was going to have a lot of kids and live on welfare. Negative comments like these brought my self esteem down. I was able to prove them wrong and graduated high school and said the pledge of allegiance.
I also know every college is expensive and in order to lower the amount of money being paid students get financial aid help. My parents would help me pay for my school. The cost to go to Penn State University to live on campus is estimated to be a total of $34,982. That is a lot of money and I believe the Lenfest Scholarship can help me out a lot each year. Especially right now that my mom is the only one working and my dad isn’t. My dad is not working because he had an accident while working and is consider to have disability. At this moment we don’t know when he will be able to return back to work. If I do receive this scholarship this will encourage me to pursue my dreams in college, my studying and hard work will pay off. I will feel grateful
I would like to express my thanks to the Buster Bynum Education Scholarship for allowing me the opportunity for financial assistance through your scholarship program. Being the second child in my family to attend college, I know that college can be expensive. At the age of seventeen, I am the youngest of six children. I learned from my family that they will give me all the love in the world, but when it comes to money I have to earn it. For the past three years I’ve earned my gas and spending money working a part-time job laying sod for Mid-South Enterprises LLC. I am confident that my parents will help as much as they possibly can financially, but with the assistance from scholarships my out of pocket tuition cost can be less.
Now, I am in my third year of CSUSM majoring in Sociology and I could not be happier. I never thought that I could transfer to a university or even get an AA degree. However, with hard work and determination, I was able to do it and show my children that no matter what you should always value education. I am so proud of all my children and I am glad that three of my children are studying and doing very well at school. However, financially it will be difficult to pay for the education of four university students. It would be great and helpful if I get scholarship to keep me going with my studying and to help me not feel guilty because my children deserve the money for their education rather than me since they are
I struggled to be here, at UC Davis. I am an undocumented student and my financial status is unpredictable. At times, I don't know if I will have enough money to eat or buy the required course materials for my classes. I am an independent person that overcomes obstacles, however life is complicated. I would try to find a job, but because of my AB-540 status, I don't qualify for job or loans. What other options do I have? The answer to this is mainly private scholarships. Most scholarships have restrictions such as citizenship or major related. Those scholarships that are open for me are limited and harder to find. Obtaining this money will be significant for me and my education because it will allow me to focus on my studies rather than my
In the novel, The Old Man and the Sea, the author Ernest Hemingway demonstrates consistently how the old man, Santiago stands as a code hero. A Hemingway Code Hero is defined as "a man who lives correctly, following the ideals of honor, courage, endurance, etc. in a world that is sometimes chaotic, often stressful, and always painful.", which Hemingway expertly demonstrates through Santiago's actions, thoughts, and overall composer. To begin, after a day out at sea while admiring a bird that landed on the stern to rest, Santiago is speaking to himself when the fish gives a sudden jerk forward, practically pulling the old man off the boat; "just then the fish gave a sudden lurch that pulled the old man down onto the bow and would have pulled him overboard if he had not braced himself and given some line" (55).
This Southport High School scholarship would help me to achieve my career goal to become a registered nurse. In my family only my parents are working and they don't make enough money for my college. They can't afford my school supplies or tuition. I have three brothers and one sister. we all live with my parents. So my parent support all of us. I have brother who just graduated last year, he really want to continue his education, but he can’t because he had no money, my parent can’t afford him. He help my family. But I still have 2 brothers and one sister who need support by my parents. Sometimes we have hard time to pay all the bills we have to pay because only my parent work can’t pay all the bill the time. Car insurance , home , electric
About a week before being awarded this scholarship, I spent a school night isolated in my pitifully dark room with my eyes glued to the computer screen like a mad woman. After nearly three hours of researching about loans and calculating the amount of debt I’d be in by the time I graduate college, I began to worry profusely about my future college expenses. Finally, I broke down in tears from the mass amount of stress and feeling of hopelessness.
I would also like to continue on the fact that it would help rid of anxiety and stress. This scholarship would allow me to purchase all of my books, pencils, classes, and other basic needs to go to school. Covering that cost would definitely take away stress, anxiety and heart aches. I would not go into serious debt from college which would help me financially now and
My family has many economic issues but strive to give their children what they need. My mom is senatorial services and my father works as landscaper. Having two parents that work long hours and that have a hard time making ends meet, it makes me realize the importance of scholarships. Because of the fact that we have a full house: my mom, dad, older brother, my other brother, his wife, my sister and my nephew, it is very difficult for me to say that I can get major financial support from my family.
Financial assistance is essential for me to make my dreams a reality. Scholarships will allow me to follow my academic dreams without the crushing burden of student loans or the excessive weight of having to work while taking courses. Being a young Hispanic female, and as a minority in this country, there is a great need I can help to fill. I see how many Hispanic men and women need
I need this scholarship so that I can relieve some of the financial burdens that have been placed upon me. Recently I was able to obtain the HOPE scholarship; however, I have come to understand that this scholarship only pays for a small percentage of my tuition. I am also inching closer to obtaining my degree and will need to be able to pay for my graduation dues. I also have to pay for books as well as be able to live comfortably. While my father does have a decent job and can provide for his family, he also has a younger son that will be going off to college in the fall. He cannot afford to send both my brother and I to school without eventually leading towards debt. Therefore, I am extremely in need of this scholarship for school. If this
If you are currently in college or soon will be, the thought of getting some student scholarships has probably crossed your mind. If it has not, then you are either independently wealthy or have not taken a good long look at the sky rocketing cost of a good college education these days.
However, my joy is marred by the fact that I have to cope with significant financial problems. During all these years I was forced to take low-wage jobs and, as a result, I don’t have any savings. I live on my own. My amazing parents have supported me morally and financially throughout my life, but they are not young already and close to retirement age. As a 30-year-old woman, I realize that very soon it will be my turn to take care of them. I live alone and have to pay all learning and living costs and to support myself. My student loan will not cover my accommodation costs. These are the realities of my life. That is why receiving this scholarship means a lot to me. It will give me the opportunity to complete my education and subsequently will allow me to succeed in life. Therefore, any financial help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.
