A True Friendship
Some people who have read John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, believe that George really didn’t care for Lennie and that there was no friendship as George was hollering at Lennie and George killed Lennie. The definition of friendship is trusting, being trusted, and caring for one another. Throughout the book there are many signs of friendship on both sides, Lennie trusted and was sharing to George, and they both protected each other. There was a true friendship between Lennie and George because, they both looked out for each other, George would comfort Lennie, and George tried to prevent Lennie’s death. George and Lennie were true friends because they both looked out for eachother. As far as the beginning of the book
Many characters in, “Of Mice and Men”, show friendship. George and Lennie show the most examples of having a great friendship. George and Lennie both take each care of one another and care about each other. They both support each other in making the dream of living off the fatta’ the land, come true. Doing these things prove that they have a strong friendship.
love each other in their eyes. There is an example of this unity at the start of
In the book of mice and men George and Lennie are good friends. They want to get a farm and get rabbits and live off the fat of the land. George and Lennie show the true meaning of friendship.
As Audrey Hepburn said “True friends are families which you can select”. George chose to take care of Lennie and chose to help him out, know matter how stupid of a thing Lennie did. George did stick with Lennie through all the bad things he did and has helped him so much. Except, at the end of the book Lennie killed Curley's wife so George shot him in the back of the head. George was not justified in killing him because Lennie killed her by accident, Lennie could of just served jail time, and George could’ve hid Lennie at the barn they were going to buy.
In Of Mice and Men, George and Lennie have a friendship that is shown through the decisions that they make. If George and Lennie did not
Is the love of your friend unconditional? Would you care for them if they were mentally retarded? What if they had unpredictable behavior that could be lethal to others? This was the daily life and burden of George in Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. George and Lennie are great friends that are two migrant workers in California during the 1920s. George is physically a small man that takes care Lennie. Lennie is unaware of his largeness and strength that has a gentle heart and likes to pet soft things. The story begins when the two men are dropped off by a bus two miles away from the destination of the farm they are going to work at. George and Lennie stop by a river to get a drink of water before they walk to the farm. When George takes a sip of water, he notices that Lennie is hiding something in his pocket. So George asks Lennie what it is, Lennie pulls out a dead mouse. Lennie says that it feels soft and he likes to pet it. George, out of fear, takes the dead mouse and throws it into the river. George tells Lennie that he could get really sick from the mouse.
As Thomas Aquinas states, “There is nothing on this earth more prized than true friendship.” Friends cheer each other up when they are sad and support them when they are happy. In John Steinbeck’s novella Of Mice and Men, two migrant workers, George and Lennie, arrive as newcomers on the ranch. Throughout the story, different problems are thrown their way, and their friendship is tested with each one. George shows how true friendship requires sacrifice because friends sacrifice personal freedom, they protect each other, and they sacrifice emotional energy.
In life you have good friends and bad friends, which includes many types of friendships. An example of friendship can be found in John Steinbeck’s novella “Of Mice and Men”. The two main characters George and Lennie seemed to have a good friendship. After reading and analyzing this novella, I believe that George overall was not a good friend to Lennie.
Strong friendships have the power to make people’s lives better. George and Lennie travel together and eventually live together, resulting in a strong bond between them. George cares for Lennie and he makes sure
In Of Mice and Men, Steinbeck is trying to prove how important friendships are. George and Lennie’s friendship is complex but they still need each other. George is the enforcer, the meaner one that wants things to get done. While Lennie is the kinder, more gentle, and soft spoken friend, they both even themselves out to be a great friendship. Although George does end up shooting and killing Lennie he did it because he cared. He did not want Lennie to suffer in prison because he killed another man.
Let's see if Lennie is really George's friend. In the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, Lennie is truly a friend to George. This is shown multiple times throughout the book. One time is after they just had a fight, Lennie was threatening to move into the mountains. George decided that he really actually did like Lennie and apologized and started talking about their farm they were going to have.
In the story, Of Mice and Men, friendship plays a major role in the way the story is told. George and Lennie is just a little part of the story. The reason George and Lennie are the main reason for this is because, George and Lennie take care of each other like no one else does. George and Lennie’s friendship is there because Lennie can’t take care of himself so George wanted to help Lennie do better in life. Another reason is that all the characters in “Of Mice and Men” is that they never had another person on their side through their life.
In Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck creates a world where it's hard to find a meaningful human relationship, yet Lennie and George share a lasting one. Both Lennie and George put effort into the friendship and get things out of the friendship. In the end, best friends are people that put other people’s needs before their own.. In George and Kenzie's friendship, George is a father figure to Lennie. For example, "when his aunt Clara died Lennie came along with me out working."
I believe men would rather have money and survive than have friends, and we are shown this time and time again in life. In George and Lennie's case this is not true, they need each other. I conclude that over time, George thinks he needs Lennie, and just possibly surviving isn't enough in life, and true human companionship is what unfeignedly
In the novella “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, there are two guys named George and Lennie. They were friends for a very long time and stood by each other. Some people may argue that George was a bad friend to Lennie but I believe that he was a good friend. Friends aren’t perfect, they will mess up. Just because George messed up and made questionable actions towards Lennie, that doesn’t make him a bad friend. You will not find a friend that has never done wrong by you.
