In the article “A Tale of Two Summers for Parents” by Belinda Luscombe, Luscombe discusses about two mothers being really negligent. Those two mothers left their children unattended in very dangerous places. Therefore no matter how important the other situation is I don’t think you should leave your kids unattended especially at that age no matter the circumstances. One may think it's just for a couple minutes but you never know, in a couple seconds your child could be gone forever or maybe even dead. All kids at elementary school age should always be under adult supervision.
Many may say that it takes a lot of time and money to hire someone to take care of a kid that age, but who can give you back the child that you might lose. There is a lot of things that can happen nowadays they could be kidnapped, killed, or taken away from you by the social services, or simply just hurt. I bet nobody wants this to ever happen to their child. My times when I was a kid I got lost and trust me, it’s a horrible feeling. I don’t blame my parents either because I was a very curious kid and I would sometimes just wander off, but even then I was still under adult supervision. Just imagine what could happen to a kid without adult supervision.

Parents need to start planning ahead and saving up for the money that is going to spent of the daycare or babysitter. Not just hoping that they could pay everything as it goes or just leave your kid somewhere you think it's safe without adult
It is very important to let children asses’ danger for themselves in a secure environment. It is not good for them to be cooped up and have somebody tell them that one thing is bad and will hurt them and another will keep them safe they need to identify these things for themselves to enable them to live a positive life as an adult and to gain confidence in themselves and their own abilities. At the same time the children need to be given this chance in a safe and secure place whereby I as the carer know they will not come into any danger.
In fact, recent studies have shown that the cost of daycare in some states has exceeded the average tuition and fees of a public college. The cost per week per child is at its all-time high for childcare and that it’s making it hard for parents. Paying $100-$350 a week for childcare sounds outrageous. The cost of having an infant child in most states is higher than having a 6 year old. Most childcare facilities charge families by the kids’ ages, the younger the child, the higher the cost. Honestly, daycare facilities are making a killing because people are having babies that need care, but they have to go back to work to support their family. Some parents are concerned about their kids spending so much time in daycare “on average, children spend over 35 hours a week in child care (Aguliar).” People may argue that 35 hours a week is too long for a child to be in care, but honestly it isn’t, as long as the kids are all
In the essay, "What to Do with the Kids This Summer? " Put 'Em to Work", Ben Sasse argues that teenagers should work/do something that relates to the real world in order to survive as adults. He makes this assertion by claiming that kids nowadays are too involved with things that aren't substantial and that the teenage experience should primarily be the time where children learn how to become adults. To persuade his audience, Sasse credits his career as president of a university (ethos) as a way to accurately describe the behaviors of teenagers and young adults and appeals to the emotion of fear (pathos). So readers have a motivation to prepare teenagers for the transition into adulthood.
In “A Summer Life” Soto is the name of a six-year-old boy who faces a decision between sinning and not fulfilling his sweet tooth desires. This all started when Soto became bored and thought the only way to cure his boredom was through sin. Though Soto knows that sinning is iniquitous he ends up going against all of his religious beliefs and greedily taking the pie for his own longing to eat something sweet. Shortly after, Soto knows stealing the pie was wrong and regrets his decision. In “A Summer Life” Soto shifts from greedy to guilty by using striking imagery, potent ethos, and biblical illusions to recreate his story.
It is important to ensure children and young people are protected from harm within the setting, as the parents are leaving their children in your care with the expectation that they can trust you and your colleagues to keep their children from harm. It is difficult for parents to leave their children in an education or care setting and then go to work; they need to be confident that their children will be in safe supportive hands with people that will help them develop.
The article “a tale of two summers for parents” by Belinda Luscombe talks about leaving kids by themselves. A woman named Deborah Harrell was taken to custody for leaving her 9year old daughter in a park. I believe that elementary-school-age children do require adult supervision because of how yungo and knowledgeable they are. Even though Harrell left her daughter near by and gave her a phone, it's still not right to have leave the child all alone. In a matter of seconds harrells daughter could have been kidnapped by some person.
Deborah Harrells’ case was something that didn’t have me worry because as an older sister I’ve let my 9 year old brother go to the outside of our apartments to play with other kids. All I am saying is that Yes I am aware that there might be strangers but also I know what is right and wrong. We should often review some emergency procedures in case anything might happen. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal to leave a 9 year old unattended especially if they have a phone with them. I don’t think anyone should be pointing fingers and think that Harell isn’t being a good parent. Everyone is different and they raise the children how they prefer as long as it’s not any type of abuse. We have to understand that these parents might be trying their best to be able to help their children succeed in
Clients and Client Issues The clients served by The Ontario Early Years Centre include parents, relatives, nannies, and their children who range from birth to six years of age. A significant amount of parents attending this Centre’s programs, whose children range from 12 months – 3 ½ years old, generally do not enrol their children in a daycare facility due to its expensive nature. The fact that daycare services are too costly for some families to register their children relates to the one of the social determinants of health known as a social safety net. This social determinant implies that daycare services are not well funded by the Canadian government, which consequently increases the facility’s price.
New parents would require a well paying job, as a well paying job requires a good education. Providing a daycare could lead to a higher class job to support an already-formed family. But, to every positive leads a negative. Frequent budget cuts would have to be met to maintain a healthy and financially stable daycare for children and staff (Source B). The main obstacle of proving a daycare is for the community paying for it. Taxpayers do not want to pay for “sexually active, immature kids” and would rather not pay for them and their “mistakes” (Source C).
A Tale of Two Summers For Parents In the article A Tale of Two Summers For Parents by Belinda Luscombe, some may say that elementary students could be left alone without any supervision looking after them but others might disagree, they think that they are still incapable of looking after themselves because they don’t know right from wrong yet. I think that some elementary students are capable to take care of themselves but I believe that the ages should matter as well. I think 4th and 5th graders do know right from wrong therefore could be left alone without any supervision. Not only is is hard for the parent to leave their kids at home in the summer but it is harder for them to pay someone to take care of them when they work in low
Some families are not able to provide childcare when they need it for their kid(s). “The cost and the scarcity of day care have helped create what sociologist Joya Misra calls “the motherhood penalty”” (Quart). Some families have to have only one income so that one parent could stay home to watch the kid(s). Single parents have to move in with their parents for help because they can not afford the care. People should not have to quit their jobs to take care of their kids when there are multiple daycare facilities.
There was a lot of things we had to do on our own as kids. While some people may disagree with being brought up that way, I value you it because it taught me a lot about myself and how capable I am at being independent. Children should also be taught how to be responsible (not by being alone of course) because there are so many tools that you can use and learn as a child that, too, will help you be a well adjusted adult. Anything from putting away toys, learning how to cook with your family, or even small things like shutting of lights when leaving a room. It shouldn't always just be about "play," but really learning values for the future.
In this aricle “ A Tale of Two Summers for Parents ” written by Belinda Luscombe writes whether elementary-school-age children should be required to have adult supervision. Each year many cases around the world are brought to our attention of children of young age being left in cars while the temperature outside is very high or of children getting abused by someone that their parent leaves them incharge with. Children of young ages dont know what to do in emergency cases like those, either they are too young to think in a way where they can help someone out or their brain just isnt ready to help someone in a really bad situation. All children need an adult because they are more expierenced and know what
Childcare is the starting point in your children 's lives. The choices you make on childcare can affect them greatly. It is when they will begin to meet the friends that they will grow up with as they go through grade school. Children need this step in their lives to adjust from staying at home, to staying with other children in a completely different surrounding. There are so many different options for childcare now a days, it is extremely hard to say which is the most beneficial for children. In this paper I will discuss the childcare decisions that my mother made for me, what to consider when evaluating childcare, and compare them to some of my references and see how they are similar and also how they differ.
An increase in baby booming makes it tougher for working parents to find daycare. The facts prove that having children come with a true price. Even so it doesn’t change the issues of finding child care or makes them go away. When parents work, quality child care is a necessity. And it does not come cheap. For families with more than one child, child care can eat up one salary, leaving parents wondering both working is worth it. When thinking of child care there are some options to consider like choosing a child care center, the costs of child care centers, and waiting lists.
