Maggie was out of town for the next two weeks at a law enforcement conference across the country. The first day Maggie had left, Alex went into work a little late so they could drop their fiancé off at the airport. “Are you sure you have to go?” Alex had asked with a pout. “I’ll be back before you know it, Danvers! I love you.” Maggie said in between kisses before exiting the car and making her way towards the front doors. “I love you honey! Make good choices!” Alex shouted through the open car window, earning her the middle finger in return. They had talked the first night when Maggie called her to let her know she had landed and was safe at her hotel. Now it was day four and Alex was almost at their breaking point. Before the pain made them grit their teeth just a little too hard. Before their voice became just a little too strained. Before the pain was radiating throughout their chest and stomach. “Probably just pulled something.” With a chuckle, they stood and punched in Kara’s number. “Alex?” Kara asked groggily. “Hey...I-I need you to come get me. Bring Maggie’s car, I drove it to the DEO. The keys are in my locker.” This seemed to wake her up and Alex was hit with an onslaught of questions. “First of all, why aren’t you with your team? Second, why can’t I just fly to come get you? And third, why do you sound so weird?” “Just come get me. Ask Winn for the location.” Alex hung up before Kara could get another word in. Thirty minutes later, Alex hears a car pull up outside of the building. Moments later, Kara jogs inside to find Alex laying on the ground. “Alex! What’s wrong, are you okay?!” Kara yells out and hurries to Alex’s side. Alex sits up with a grimace. “I’m fine, Kara. I’m sore and tired, and cranky, and I didn’t want to make small talk with my team. I texted Winn and put him in charge for the night, nothing else crazy should be happening, so I trust him to watch the computers. Take me home?” Kara worriedly eyes her siblings split lip and darkening bruise around her eye. “Yeah. Yeah, okay.
