The ceiling opened up over a section of the complex revealing a spot to fly and land aircrafts. As soon as this happened, 12 guards armed with shotguns came into the room. Jamal began firing at them quickly. He killed 5 in an instant the guards began firing into the room Jamal was able to avoid the spray of gunfire but OJ was not as lucky. OJ fell to the ground gripping his chest and struggled for air. Jamal immediatly picked up a shotgun from a dead guard and opened fire all over the remaining guards. His lungs were severely damaged and he struggled for every remaining breath. OJ looked at Jamal and was …show more content…
Jamal pulled out his wrench and hit the guard with all of his might. Jamal felt the guards skull crack on impact. OG Alcinous walked towards Jamal. Alcinous pulled out a pistol and aimed to fire. Jamal threw the wrench with perfect accuracy. It hit the OG in the head and sent him to the ground. Jamal picked up his handgun and got ready to fire. Before he could he had a stange feeling, like he was doing something wrong. Jamal said, “OG Alcinous, tell me your real name, I want to know who you truly are.” Alcinous with had a hand over his wound from the wrench, said, “ My…. my name is Jeff, Jeff Sklirós.” Jamal fell to his knees realizing that he was his father. Jamal then said, “My uncle was right when he said you were no good.” Jamal then shot his father with no mercy. He loaded the bomb on the plane and climbed into the plane. He began to move the plane up the runway ramp. When the plane reached the main floor, slaves were crowded around wondering what was happening. Jamal found a megaphone in a storage compartement on the plane and told all the drug slaves to come on the plane to escape. Slave after slave loaded the plane until there was no slave left. Guards began to rush into the area and began firing at the
“Small town big heart,” they say locked away behind their cold immaculate castle gates that rest on the remains of the previous farmland and plains. The collective heart beats but only at a convenient time suiting parties involved. “A place where everyone matters,” they utter as their motto in indistinguishable monotone voices. The people are too wrapped up in their everyday lives to ever be concerned about their neighbor, they look through life with gilded glasses. It’s as if a fog had descended slowly creeping into their view distorting what they once held most dear.
My mind raced like the race car, my heart beats as the hooves of a horse on a racetrack, and my thick eyelashes holding up the tears that were going to fall. As I locked eyes with the Monster, I knew that I wasn’t safe. The angry blue eyes like the ocean waves were locked in with my helpless black ones. This time, the ocean waves were set to destroy a ship. This time, that helpless ship was me.
As we arrived at Gareth Fisher’s ranch, we pulled up to his modest home and hopped out of our vans. We were running late and he briefly introduced himself before we got back into the van and drove off to see some of the cattle. We were driving through these gorgeous green hills before we turned off on a dirt road and pulled next to a herd of a couple of hundred cattle in a corral. I thought this part was so interesting because the cattle stared right at us as we exited the van. They were as curious and tense as we were. At this point, Gareth started explaining more about his operation and how he started as a rancher. He told us that he actually does not own the land, but leases it from the State of California. He is allowed to use this land
'The book, how will it end?' I popped the question as his fingers absent mindedly made curls in my hair. We had been lazing around for quiet a while now. Autumn was at its peak and a chill had started settling in my bones. He gave me a sidelong glance as he mumbled, 'Don't you wanna know that yourself?' even though his face remained hidden by his diary I could've sworn I saw a ghost of his smile. 'Come on don't be sucha tease' upon hearing the impatience in my voice he huffed a laugh and sat his diary aside. I sat up beside him, our backs leaning on the old oak tree.
Dead! A pure, defenseless mortal, dead. All because of some meaningless grudge held against Zeus. Apollo, with the help of Athena killed Suez. Both had to give up and lose a loved one because of Zeus. It is clear that they attempted to hurt Zeus in some way, shape, or form because, Apollo is able to manipulate someone’s health, and Athena has an owl and an olive tree, which left evidence at the crime scene.
Screams filled the air. Only then did Jessie Grant realize they were his. He had been having this dream for some time, his dad’s and mom’s death. Before they boarded a cruiser when he was seventeen, his parents were his best friends, now he had nothing.
A possible theme for Oedipus the King by Sophocles is that one’s blindness can hide the inevitability that is his destiny. Oedipus is in this situation. He struggles to escape his fate: killing his father and marrying his mother and believes he is successful. Sophocles believes that the gpds control one’s destiny and the inevitability that a person will do what is destined despite there hero’s intentions.Oedipus represent the standards of a true tragic hero: he is well known, basically good, his punishment is out of proportion compared to his crime, the audience at some point feels sorrow and pity for him, and Oedipus has a tragic flaw. During the whole story Oedipus thinks that he may be able to change his fate a live life how he wants but he falls to that which is his destiny. For these reason Oedipus is truly an example of a tragic hero and is unable to avoid his tragic fate.
“We should start back,” urged Maria with a grimace. The wind howled straight through her bones as she clutched at the edges of her tattered cloak. “Miss Mordana will be worried sick, and we will get sick soon if we don’t find shelter.”
In the Poetics, Aristotle provides an outline of how the artist is to portray or represent the perfect Tragedy. A Tragedy, of course, was nothing more than a drama, in which the characters appeared "better" than in real life (in a comedy, they appeared "worse," according to Aristotle). Aristotle's Poetics makes several references to other dramatic works to illustrate his points, but he most commonly calls upon The Odyssey to support his argument for how a dramatic structure should be designed. However, along with the Odyssey, Aristotle extensively references Sophocles' Oedipus Rex. Both poetic works were enormously popular in their time (the former had been passed down orally for generations, and the latter won the top prizes at the dramatic festivals). Therefore, Aristotle is comfortable using both to support his viewpoint concerning Tragedy and the Tragic Hero. This paper will analyze the standards that Aristotle sets out concerning the definition of the Tragic Hero and show how Sophocles' Oedipus exemplifies Aristotle's definition of a Tragic Hero.
A knight in shining armor, the damsel in distress, and the villain. The classic heroic story. The hero starts out poor, ends up rich. With everything. Always fighting crime, saving the city, swinging from webs, shooting arrows, growing green, throwing hammers. Heroes are perfect, heroes have powers, heroes are rich, heroes never suffer, heroes are all men. All false. What has our society become if we can only look up to an impossible image? True heroes are not all that perfect. True heroes find their strengths from their weaknesses, they put others before themselves, and they have to disobey orders when they know it’s right.
Throughout the history of literature, there have been many tales of tragic heroes. These heroes include Oedipus from Oedipus Rex, Cassius from The Tragedy of Julius Caesar and many others. Many may ask, “What is a tragic hero?” A tragic hero is a person of noble birth with heroic or potentially heroic qualities. This person is fated by the gods or by some supernatural force to doom and destruction or at least to great suffering. But the hero struggles greatly against this fate and this cosmic conflict wins our admiration. In short, a tragic hero is a character of noble beginnings who is doomed and destined for defeat, downfall or suffering. Macbeth is the perfect example of a tragic hero because he embodies all these traits and
In many, a tragedy do the tragic heroes have flaws that lead themselves to their own demise. The main character always acts exactly on his or her own emotions; thus aiding their tragic flaw and leading to their own demise without giving them the time to stop the repercussions of their emotion driven actions. In the play “Antigone” by Sophocles many of the characters are simply too headstrong and passionate about their beliefs to realize that they would greatly regret the decisions they are making. All of the characters share this characteristic; it is alluded to in the play that this is caused by their blood relation to Oedipus and how they are too cursed.
There is a clear line dividing modern heroes from tragic heroes of the past, and it starts with the conclusion to their heroic success or feat. Tragic heroes are known as tragic heroes due to the fact that they end their careers or lives in a poor manner such as good going bad, or some kind of fatal mistake, whereas modern heroes are expected please all people with a happy ending. Despite this major difference in them, these two types of heroes share some similar characteristics as well, such as independence, bravery, confidence, boldness, and capability. These traits are solid traits that lack waiver-ability meaning no matter the circumstance- these traits help their possessor achieve their goal whether it be good or bad. Lady Gaga displays
