A Serene Proposition
For getting rid of all unwanted noises across the United States, and for making a better and peaceful America.
It is a disturbing noise to those fellow Americans who desire to sleep in past six o'clock in the morning, when they hear an ambulance rushing to the house around the block, a lawnmower eating up grass outside a neighbor's yard, or a blender that a wife started to make herself a post-run smoothie. These noises do not just stop there however, they are around every corner of the daily American routine. Awakened not by the ‘rays of the sun’ that these citizens have set the night before but by an airplane's propeller, these civilians wake up to their first encounter with the awful noise pollution that grows louder …show more content…

The use of publicly shaming people who are inconsiderate to another individual's tranquility will quickly resolve annoying sounds and will allow for a more enjoyable atmosphere. Some have already witnessed a small glimpse of this tactic in airplanes. Mothers are shushed and given cold stares when their toddlers have not stopped crying after a couple of minutes. In order to avoid more ridicule, mothers scurry to the closest restroom to hush the toddler. We have an opportunity to make this small unspoken rule official and acceptable. Vacuuming at extremely early hours can be eliminated by not frowning upon shaming. Babies can be withstandable, music can be moderated to a certain level, and sdfghjkl all with changing how shaming is viewed. Of course, there are some things that can’t be completely muted at the moment such as lawn mowers and airplanes. I believe that criticism of noise pollution would only act as a motivator. People would make more efforts to make things noiseless quicker. Next thing you know, airplanes won’t be heard roaring across the sky and fireworks will be able to be enjoyed without the senseless racquet. In the meantime, being loud would would have a connotative meaning and there would be more efforts to the keep noise level to a minimum. The average lawn size in an american home is 8700 square feet. Researchers have converted this number to 26 million blades of grass. Cutting 280 blades of grass every three seconds, one would finish the yard in approximately four thousand sixty six minutes and without a sound. That’s about three days nonstop, so a more realistically, it would take a week to two weeks for a nicely cut yard. Coincidentally, it takes two to three weeks for the grass to grow tall enough to cut it again. Just like we Americans load up laundry over and over again, we will do this for the lawn. Yes, we already do this but now it won’t be such a burden on our ears. The lawn mower is just an example of many possible changes that we Americans can make to create a better U.S. of A.. Soon, touchscreen tablets will be more common than keyboards, heating up food will no longer be in a microwave, and only the sound of peaceful nature will surround
