'A Rhetorical Analysis Of Rubio's Name-Calling'

Marco Rubio is a Florida senator who is running for president in the 2016 election . He believes that women do not deserve equal pay, that the US must not help people to get out of debt, and that “gay rights” should be revoked. Now “gay rights”, as they are referred to, are actually rights for the LGBT community. LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, so “gay rights” actually cover a lot more individuals. These rights are just basic human rights for people who identify with the LGBT community, just an example of the rights, the right to marry, the right to shop where they want, the right to be treated respectfully at a job, and etc. And even though these are just basic human rights people still fight against them, leaving the LGBT community to fight back. In these works though, you can still find elements of propaganda elements. It seems there is mainly one device used to call out their oppressors, and that is the “Name-Calling” Device. The author of this LGBT article, Zack Ford, uses the “Name-Calling” Device to show Rubio’s view is wrong and get to the readers to dislike him. This is done through the use of extreme diction, highlighting contradictory statements, and by directly addressing his rebuttals to Rubio’s claims. To begin, Ford uses a very extreme sense of diction to unveil Rubio “curtain” of deception.
