Webster’s Dictionary describes a hero as a person admired for his/her achievements and/or qualities. In Fearless by Eric Blehm, multiple heroes prevail in the story. These heroes consist of people like Janice, Larry, and Kelley Brown. Why are they heroes? They are heroes not only for their constant support of Adam in each and every day of his life but for continuing his legacy through everything they do. Many people do not know how much they will love their child until they are holding them in their arms for the first time, and in the Brown family, this was clearly the case. Parents are not only going through their own struggles, but they have a whole other person to constantly worry about as well. Janice and Larry Brown were the beloved parents of Adam and were always his backbone when he ended up in a rough spot. From the early ages of Adam’s life to the mature man that he became, Janice and Larry were always taking the best out of every situation. Adam was a rowdy, childish, and typical “throw some dirt on it” young boy. If Adam was not jumping off the roof, then he was climbing a ladder in the garage (page 13). If he was not climbing a ladder in the garage then he was hopping over the neighbor’s fence. Yet through all of the immature acts that were a part of their son’s life, Janice and Larry constantly gave Adam the support, attention, and lectures that he deserved.
