The Southern Gothic Genre is used to demonstrate the moral blindness of the south. This Genre includes three major traits: themes, macabre situations, and disturbed personalities. These traits can be found in stories like ¨A Good Man is Hard to Find¨ by Flannery O'Connor, ¨The Possibility of Evil¨ by Shirley Jackson, and ¨A Rose for Emily¨ by William Faulkner. These traits are shown in all of these pieces of literature through the character's moral blindness and their personalities towards others.

¨A Good Man is Hard to Find¨ by Flannery O'Connor, is one of the most common pieces of Southern Gothic Literature. It is about a Grandma, her son, two children and their mother, that are held hostage in the hands of the misfit; a man who seems to be good n Grandmas eyes. In the story, we see a few examples of the Southern Gothic traits; for example, in the text, Grandma and the two children were looking at the young black boy that had hardly any clothes to wear. Grandma then told the two children about how fortunate they were to have what they had. This caused them to pity the little and demonstrate the moral blindness of social class. That explains why there was an awful stench coming from Miss Emma´s house. Speaking of stench, his corpse was actually found in Miss Emma's bedroom. Funny thing is, Miss Emma used the trait of disturbed personality by how she bought arsenic and he was there dead, with strings of Miss Emma´s remaining hair. Now that is awfully
