Used as a lens, this article can analyze the lunch scene in A Few Good Men. Mainly, when Markison says nothing as Jessup lies about his order for "Code Red" leading to the death of a soldier, is this really a test of obedience, or was the subject, Markison, not given a clear choice to make the decision himself?

The movie “A Few Good Men” was made in 1992, directed by Rob Reiner and Produced by David Brown. I purchased the movie through Amazon Movies. The main characters in the Movie are Lt. Kaffee, Lt. JG Sam and the marine who was killed was Lt. PFC Santiago. The two men accused of the murder were two marines named, PFC Landon Downey and Corporal Harold Dawson. The events in the movie takes place at Guantanamo Marine Base in Cuba and involves the murder was Col. Nathan R. Jessep, who was suspected of ordering the murder of the marine.

The lines are delivered well especially by the animated characters. The tone and speech patterns of the animated characters are consistent, making the characters believable and bringing the characters to life. The dialogue and the actions and reactions of the live action actors and the animated characters are done flawlessly to allow the audience to believe that the live action characters are actually talking and interacting to the Toons. The script is clearly based on the vocabulary and delivery of lines that were frequently seen in the private eye, crime thrillers in 40’s movies. The dialogue for the most part is sharp, and reveals insight about the characters. The dialogue contains subtexts. However, there is a tendency to repeat dialogue as a joke, and it becomes tedious. For example, Kaitlan saying “I hate you” occurs too many times to the point the joke fall flat. Plant it in the first act and pay it off near the end when Nana says, “Me too.”

I am going to focus mainly on the end of act one, and the start of act two. I will explore the two scenes in great detail, and compare how the tension is similar and how it is different.

My written task is a lost scene that relates to Part IV-Literature: A Critical Study of the course. I chose to write a lost scene at the end of Act 2 from the play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams. Throughout the play I maintained an ambivalent tone, including Gooper, a successful lawyer with five kids, and Mae, Gooper’s wife who desires to inherit Big Daddy's wealth. I have chosen the following tone because throughout Act 2 Gooper and Mae develop mixed emotions about Brick, Maggie, and Big Daddy's wealth. I also wanted to preserve the tone to portray both Gooper and Mae’s characteristics as well as their behavior and feelings for other characters in the play. Throughout the scene, I demonstrated the style of writing similar to Williams.

Lots of music, fast cuts, fantastic cinematography and superb sets and costumes make it the lively tale it was meant to be. These features also make the film somewhat cartoon-like with a lot of heightened realism. Don't expect to see British people prancing around in tights when you rent this one. Luhrmann creates a world where gun-toting youths sport Hawaiian shirts and beachfront brawls are an everyday event.

The script presents with both strengths and weaknesses. There are several areas that are worth discussing. What holds the script back is the structure, pace, and the lack of sufficient tension in the first half, as well as a need for further character development, especially in the area of dialogue.
