When Steinbeck describes the barn at first it was quiet and nature taking its course, but after it had a more darker atmosphere and everything was more sad and depressing. Steinbeck also talked about the horses because no matter what environment they are in they did the same thing they always did. I think the author is trying to portray Lennie as a horse as he put it in that way in chapter 1 and no matter what he does the same mistake over and over again no matter what it is. I think that Steinbeck never mentions gives a name to Curley’s wife because she is always working on her outlook that she really doesn’t have a real identity inside, so that is why Steinbeck never gives Curley’s wife a name.
