Scruton provides one with an understanding of the morality of consuming meat. In his essay “A Carnivore’s Credo” he concludes that it is morally acceptable to consume meat given the appropriate circumstances. He contrasts “...virtuous and vicious eating…”(Scruton 397). Vicious eating entails indulging one’s desires without limitations or restrictions and being inconsiderate of the consequences of one’s actions. Knowingly consuming meat that has been acquired from a factory farm is part of the immoral aspect of meat eating.
