From since I was a young child I have always wanted to go into the field of Human Services. As I have grown I have decided that I would go into the Criminal Justice side of Human Services. By this I mean that I still want to help people, but I want to help people who have become criminals or who are on the path of becoming criminals. I especially want to help children and teens who have been in and out of a Juvenal Detention Center. From this passion I have decided that I want to go into one of three careers. These careers are as follows; Juvenile Defense Attorneys, Juvenile Counselor, or Juvenile Corrections Officer. A Juvenile Defense Attorney is basically the same as a Defense Attorney, except Juvenile Defense Attorneys work with children

There are many different occupations in the field of human services. One of the things that I can see myself doing once I obtain my degree to get me started in the field is being a Social and Human Services Assistant. The job of a Social and Human Services Assistant requires me to work closely with other workers such as social workers to help provide client services, including support for families, in a wide variety of fields, such as psychology, rehabilitation, and social work. (Occupational Outlook Handbook) In order to become a Social and Human Services Assistant one must at least have received a High School Diploma and complete any entry level training that’s required.
For awhile now I have felt the call to serve children in a unique way. The more I prayed about God’s calling the more he directed me to the criminal justice field. As I did my research I came to realize that the juvenile justice system was where God wanted me. As a freshman in college I decided to pursue a degree in criminal justice. However, this evolved into a double major in criminal justice and psychology. I have chosen to make this calling my profession. There are many ways I hope to impact the lives of juveniles, as well as the system itself. Due to the tough on crime era, some children are been transferred into the adult court one non–homicidal cases. Some have been tried as an adult for drug offense. I firmly believe this jeopardizes
As I started to read the required material for the first week in the book. It stated that if you are looking to make a lot of money human services is not the career of choice. I started to think, people who make six figure are not happy because they decided on a career basic on the salary. In life it is all about happiness, don’t get me mislead money plays a big part in everything. But happiness is the key living a long life, choosing a career because of money simply will make a people not love their career. Human services are my choice for a career because money wasn’t my primary focus, helping people in tough times was my concentration. Everyone needs help in their lives and I decided that a career human services, will always be about
Working in Education and Human Service careers means that we will be working with other people, some who might end up seeming rude. I agree with what the doctor said, I cannot assume someone is trying to be rude. As a teacher, I cannot take rude students or parents personally. I especially cannot react like the receptionist Ericka who was crying. I have to remain calm, even when I feel like someone is trying to be hostile or rude. The same situation might happen between future students of mine. Misunderstandings can easily occur between students that are in elementary school. A student might become upset because they believe a classmate was being rude, but the classmate might not have even been trying to come across as rude.
Majoring in Human Services/Social Work has always been a dream of mine. I have always wanted to help people who are in need. Life can definitely be rough, and can throw anything at any time, even when you aren’t expecting it. Whether it be financial problems, emotional problems, or mental problems, life can begin to take a toll on people. In particular, I am leaning towards working with children or adults who have mental health issues or have problems with substance abuse. With the possibility of possibly helping people who come from broken families or homes.

Starting from being a certified nursing assistant, to becoming a unit secretary for a hospital that specialize in wound care, I have always known that I wanted to help individuals in need. However, I noticed that I was not happy with helping individuals in medical need. It wasn’t until I decided to continue my education that I introduced to the world of social work. Going up with a single mother that suffered from drug abuse, my family depended on social services for a lot of assistance, from everything such as food stamps to family counseling. This life experience helped guide my thoughts on pursuing social work as a career. I know that I want to help individuals that are down on their luck, but I want to take it one step farther, by providing individual counseling to adults that may need more one on one time, than what is normally given from a social service agency. Counseling will also give me a chance to do what I love most and that is to talk and get to know the individuals that I am helping make like changing decisions. Working as a clinical social work has my interest because it does not put limits on what I can do or who I can help, and it will set me up for my future goal of becoming a licensed clinical social worker. Being my own boss and changing my community is my dream job, opportunity and goal. I am currently on my way with changing my community and living my dream, because I am currently working for a non-profit
I chose social working as my career because many other people go through tough situations and have a difficult time talking to relatives or friends to help them through a tough situation. I thought of becoming a social worker so I can have the ability to change the lives of others. Social work is one of those careers you can truly make a difference in people’s lives. I want to become a social worker because life isn’t about just helping yourself it’s about helping others as well, which is what social workers do for a living. Child and family social workers protect children and families in need of assistance. Many families and children don’t feel comfortable talking to just anyone about obstacles they have faced in their lives which is why
