“Grandma, I finished my bath!” seven-year-old Amira shouted. “That’s good, Amira. Now quiet down and brush your teeth,” Grandma said. She sat in a soft blue chair in the living room, while Amira’s older sister Sara read a book on the floor. Looking up, Sara asked, “Grandma, do you think Amira will get to sleep tonight?” Grandma sighed, “I hope so. I have a good story for her tonight.” Just then, Amira raced into the living room and announced, “I’m ready!” “Okay,” Grandma said quietly. “Sit next to me, and I’ll read you a bedtime story.” Amira crawled up and sat down beside Grandma. “No, you need to go to bed now,” Grandma replied firmly. Sara and I will tuck you in.” Grandma and Sara followed Amira as she ran down the hallway to the bedroom. They tucked her in, and Grandma shut off the light. Then Grandma and Sara returned to the living room, but soon they heard Amira jump onto the floor. “Grandma, I’m just going to the bathroom,” Amira called out. “Okay, but go right back to bed,” Grandma replied. Ten minutes later, Amira shouted from the bedroom. “Grandma, could I have some water, please?” Grandma brought Amira a small glass of water and tucked her in again. This time, Grandma sang a lullaby before she shut off the light. Five minutes later, Amira called out again. “Sara, I see something in my room. Can you come and look at it? I’m scared.” Sara walked quickly to Amira’s room. Before turning on the light, she asked Amira to point at what she saw. When Sara turned on the light, she showed Amira that it was just her raincoat hanging on the door. “Go to sleep now,” Sara said gently. “It’s just your raincoat, silly.” The next night, Sara had a surprise for Amira.
