Mrs. Chipley and Sarah were standing in the rain in front of Aunt Sarah’s house. Sally felt uncomfortable because she barely knew Aunt Sarah. “ Can you just go in the house already, i’m soaked with water,” says Mrs. Chipley. “ I’m sure Aunt Sarah doesn’t want me here,” Sally says with a frightened face. Suddenly, the rusty door starts to open. When Sally saw Aunt Sarah’s hideous face, she started to scream. “AHHH,” Sally says with a terrified look on her face. “Sally stop screaming,” says Mrs. Chipley. “ Now come on Sally,” says Aunt Sarah with a strict face. Sally has never been to frightened in her life. “You don’t have to be afraid of me, Sally,” says Aunt Sarah. Over time, Sally was in her room trying to get a hold of her parents.
The sign blinks and beckons at Alyssa from behind the misty sheet of rain. In bright pink flashing fluorescent it says:
Vernon shot up in bed and was expecting something to come creeping out of the shadows.
Raindrops ran down the window pane, creating streaks of water on the glass. A lightning bolt struck lazily, and a quiet roll of thunder followed. Fragile clouds let loose a few rays of sun, illuminating small parts of the city. The woman lounging in the window seat languidly drew a few finishing strokes on a piece of paper, then set the sketch aside, allowing her eyes to roam to the outside. She rubbed them gently, blinking out the dreariness that came with stormy days. No balloons today, she thought with disappointment. They were beautiful with their bright colors and elaborate designs.
William felt sick as he scrambled off his seat and frantically searched the area for cover. He could clearly hear the thumps of dead bodies hitting the deck, just as he could hear the drip drip drip of Michel’s blood as it hit the floor. In the corner of his eye, he could see the powder monkey trampled on the floor. There was no honor for the dead in the midst of a battle. He needed a hiding spot., something, anything! If he could just find a place to hide and wait out the battle…
My mom drove me to school, filling the car with an awkward and unbearable silence. The only noise was her thumb tapping the steering wheel and the annoying clicking of the signals. Since I am on punishment, I'm not allowed to have the luxury of Megan driving me. To make this car ride a little bit less awkward, I turned on the radio and blasted up the volume to the highest notch.
"Alma," her mother called from downstairs. "Come down for breakfast. We need to go into town for some errands."
I walked to it and tried prying it from the ground with my fingers. A twig broke behind me and I jumped and spun around. It was dark now and the only light was from the full moon. I had a bad feeling start to pump through me. I turned and ran trying to evacuate the danger I felt nearby. I ran through brush that looked like claws trying to grab my ankles. And as tree limbs came down snatching at my skin I tripped and fell. I saw a tree nearby that looked welcoming and I tried to use it as cover. Black wings busted through the trees and run started echoing around me in a croaked out a raspy breath.
“What is wrong with you?” Ellie exclaims out loud. She doesn’t care when the few people she passes turn to stare at her. “He is just a man, granted, a remarkably hot, good looking one. However, that is no excuse for you behaving like a love struck teenager.” Sighing Ellie scans the street for the restaurant Becky recommended. There, just down the street, Sarah’s Cozy Café, she starts walking quickly towards it.
As soon as Day opened the door smoke billowed in. She quickly adjusted her mask and closed the door. The smoke covered everything like a thick blanket. For a while the sun and the smoke had fought, but eventually the sun had succumbed to the smoke, like everything else. The only light now was electrical, but unlike the sun they weren’t bright and happy. The lights held no warmth and instead seemed to make the world colder. It hadn’t changed overnight. It was the same cold and dismal place. Day started towards the market. People scarcely walked the streets and instead rode in Machines. The machines had made the world like this, if you could even call it a world.
A small, fifteen-year-old boy huddled in a dingy alleyway in the heart of Manhattan. Never mind that it was almost Christmas; all he was really aware of was the bitter cold. He dreaded this time of year for that exact reason. Plus, the homeless shelters were fuller now than at any other time, so he had no hope of finding refuge there.
For the next few days, Ariel did everything she was supposed to, meditation and group discussion with ladies who – like her – were having trouble conceiving. At the meetings, she was carefully detached and factual in her answers, publicly maintaining her cool. During this time, she avoided making eye contact with Brian and only spoke to him in the most cordial ways, only in public settings. Then, early Friday afternoon, Ariel got a call from her husband
Disrupted by the sound of an uncanny knock, the prince swore over the bitter winter’s night in great frustration. The sound of his footsteps echoed against the golden walls, shattering the omnipresent silence as he trotted down the staircase, that were exquisitely engraved with flowers and vines. The markings of violence were etched onto the cold marble of the scored floor. The deafening wind pounded against the walls as if rebuking his foul words and as he approached the door an aromatic smell seized his nose as he yanked the portal open. A woman was loitering in the shadow with her wrinkly hands grasping firmly onto a single rose. The swirls of incense in the air was distinctive but he never realised that it would linger on with him for
“Describe to me everything that happened between first seeing Sarah and now,” requested the Police officer.
hours, bye.” Ring-ring-ring, Aliah calls Nicole. “ Hi Nicole”, “ Hey”, “ so do you want to meet up at Central Park?” Aliah asks. “ Sure, why not.” Nicole accepts to meet. 30 minutes later, Nicole and Aliah will now meet at central park to have a conversation. “ Hey Nicole”, Aliah hugs Nicole. “ So, i wanted to talk to you about something and I know you might not like it.” Aliah says. “ What?” Nicole question. “ My mom told me that tomorrow, i am moving to Houston Texas for my father’s business.” She tells her sadly. “ Nooooo, why? Please stay, please.” “ I’m sorry, but we can still call facetime and text” Aliah replies. “ But still, i won’t be seeing in real life, though.” Nicole cries. Ring-ring-ring. “ I have to go, my mom is calling me,
The sky was bright and the birds were sitting on the tree branches singing their songs. I layed in bed slowly trying to pull myself out of bed. It would be my first day back to school in 3 days. I reach for my phone to look at the time. 7:15. Schools already started so there is no point in going. The teachers will understand. I set my phone back down on the nightstand. After a few minutes pass by I hear my phone buzz. It’s a text from my friend, Britney.
