Everyone has a Story Can one imagine a world where people undergo such insanity, that they willingly go on suicide plane missions? Neither could the United States before September 11, 2001. The 9/11 terrorist attacks, lead by an Islamic group al-Qaeda, devastated the country. This group so heavily believed in their religion, that they wanted to create an independent Muslim State. The tragic event of 9/11 impacted everyone in the United States, whether or not they were present at the terrorist site of attack. Everyone felt hopeless and worthless because they could do nothing to help. An adult witness to 9/11 in 2001, TJ Zimmerman, possess memories that he wants to share about this historical tragedy. Major earthquakes killing thousands, terrorist attacks killing thousands, the world at an economic slowdown, bombs that injury many, the Odyssey launched to Mars, and protests all occur. All of these events lead to the calamitous event, known as 9/11. The 9/11 terrorist attacks took a lot of thought and dedication. These thoughtfully planned attacks killed many loved ones. On September 11, 2001, Al Qaeda terrorist boarded three hijacked passenger planes. These people carried out correlated suicide attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and also at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. They killed everyone on board these planes and three thousand people on the ground. Another plane, considered the fourth plane in this attack, did not succeed in its suicide attempt, because the passengers aboard fought for their lives. “At 7:59 am, eastern daylight time, American Airlines Flight 11, with 92 people on board takes off from Boston. He got up, dressed himself, told his wife goodbye and went to work at the Carlin Company. At around 8:30 am, his step dad, the office manager, came in his office and told him to turn the T.V on. At that point, plane Flight 77, crashed into the World Trade Center tower. He had no clue what this meant. Nobody at the office knew yet that the terrorist attacks existed. Mr. Zimmerman’s first child soon to be born a week after the attacks, scared him about the world she may live in. He worried about what kind of world his child may live in. He worried about his daughter’s future. Despite the fact that he feared life for his child, Mr. Zimmerman did not live his life in fear. He did not feel afraid. Tj Zimmerman said, “not much happiness came out of these attacks, but it did bring the nation together as a united country” (Zimmerman). Mr. Zimmerman thinks the world changed after 9/11. After 9/11, people in the US did not trust anyone who looked like they came from an Arab or Muslim background. People now became scared and afraid to fly. The whole screening process at the airports changed as well. Pocket knives, fluids, and other items could be brought on a plane before 9/11, but not after. Mr. Zimmerman started to see many security measures being taken at airports. Laws put in place at airports after the attack included, more thorough security check in, reinforced cockpit doors on planes, armed Air Marshals on

So the first attack that the hijackers did was the two Twin Towers were the first to attack. The people didn’t want to burn to death so they would just jump off and 200 people died from jumping off the building. So for the people that were in the two towers when the buildings were still the planes going to the Twin Towers the people that were still there they would just burn to death. The first Twin Tower to get hit was at 8:45 am and the time that it was down at 9:59 less than a hour it was down because of the planes. A Boeing 767 containing approximately twenty thousand gallons of jet fuel flew into the North tower of the World Trade Center in New York City on a pristine morning at 8:45 a.m. on September 11, 2001. The collision left a giant opening close to the eightieth floor of the one hundred ten story skyscraper, abruptly ending hundreds of people’s lives and trapping hundreds more in the floors above. As the evacuation of the tower and its twin- the South Tower- got underway by the local authorities, television news channels broadcasted live images of what at first appeared to be a freak accident. Then, eighteen minutes after the initial plane crashed into the tower, a second Boeing 767–United Airlines Flight 175–appeared out of the sky, turned sharply
One effect 9/11 had on the world was airplane security. Before 9/11 airports around the world followed their own security guidelines. Two months after the attack the Aviation and Transportation Security Act was set in place. In other words that act created the Transportation

Airports and airplanes have become firmer in the past 14 years. If you are boarding an airplane, check-in is two hours prior to takeoff. There are also many restrictions as to what passengers can and cannot bring. Sharp objects, sporting goods, guns, tools, and more are prohibited. Because of new screening equipment and more thorough searches, boarding lines are much longer. To ensure that 9/11 has a much lower chance of happening again, Sky Marshalls have
On September 11, 2001, members of the terrorist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes. At 8:45 in the morning, an American Airlines plane crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center. The incident killed hundreds of people instantly, and trapped hundreds in the burning building (“9/11 Attacks”). Americans thought it was only a freak accident, but less than twenty minutes later, a United Airlines plane crashed into the south tower. It was no longer an accident, but an attack.
On September 11, 2001, the terror attacks that struck upon the American people etched a wound so deep that will take years to repair. The whole world watched and mourned as 2,977 innocent lives were taken mercilessly away by the clutches of vile people. The group responsible for these attacks had malicious intent and animosity toward the people of the free world. They took their accumulated hatred and attacked the American people. The way the American people responded was not what the terrorist group had expected.Instead of cowering in fear from the attacks as presumed, the American people began to display more patriotism and exhibit a sense of unity. While 9/11 is a day we remember the innocent lives lost to terrorism and the new sense of togetherness it founded, it is also a day that birth the term Islamophobia and gave rise to mistaken-identity hate crimes.
The aftermath has resulted in many changes in daily life, whether it be any form of travel or monotonous and routine activities, like boarding the subway or walking into a school. September 11, 2001 is the day four planes were hijacked and three crashed into important buildings, while the last crashed into a field. And today all the grief, devastation, great sacrifice, and total annihilation will be remembered throughout time as 9/11. To tell you everything would take forever, so instead I will tell you how my mother saw it. It was on a day we all know as 9/11, there was a house on Quimby Way in Sacramento, California. And in this house, my mother was going throughout her day as usual, which most likely involved laundry, dishes, and watching two children by the name of Alanna and Christopher, when she saw the news. “Is this really happening? This can’t be true! Was it an accident? Oh my god, both towers! What would ever make someone do that? This is terrible, why is it even happening in the first place? Why? Why?
Flying out or in of the country or even within has become more challenging since the 9/11 attacks. It takes more time to get through security which makes for a much earlier arrival time for those flying. Most airlines require an arrival two hours prior to their departure time. Many Americans have stopped flying altogether because of the hassle of airport security and out of fear. Before the attacks, airport security was more relaxed. Basic security measures were in place, but it was much different than today. Before the attacks, security screenings were set in place by the private companies, many which were outsourced to different security companies. Passengers were allowed to bring certain size blades, scissors, baseball bats and even sewing needles. All of these items have since been banned as a result of the attacks. Since the attacks, the Transportation Security Administration was created and the security screenings are now regulated by the federal government. Through TSA, passengers bags are checked for banned items, they screened for suspicious behavior, the explosive detection system was implemented, and the full body scanner is now used to check passengers. According to Rick Seaney, “Our security ought to stop anything these days, stringent as it is: We've gone from the metal detectors of the 1970s to post-9/11 body scans and enhanced pat downs. Cockpit doors are now fortified, and the sky
