I had heard about the running club about being advertised through via email. I wanted to see what it was always about because I’ve been wanting to get back in shape. So, I decided to go to the meeting to try it out to see if this would be something that I want to do. The meeting was supposedly held outside of Rinker in the pit. I was actually very excited to go that day because of the anticipation piling up as the time got closer.
A typical 400m race involves an entire lap of a standard running track, and requires each athlete to run in separate lanes. The race begins with runners in staggered positions, so that each athlete is running equal distance, and those who false start twice, or obstruct another runner from moving forward will be disqualified. As a 400m runner, you require considerable speed endurance, in order to maintain a high intensity over a considerable distance.

One day Colby went outside to run his mile. He started on his trek that was too sure be a rough one. After sweat, blood and tears, he began his third lap. Little did he know was that there was a deadly rock lurking around the corner. He came around the bend full speed. He tripped on a rock and ate the ground. This horrific event resulted in a broken ankle, torn ACL, he pulled a hamstring and he got a concussion. Colby never lived another day of his life ever again as a normal kid. The track and practice fields at Havre High School are very terrible.
In a busy first week of competitions, the Alder track team had lots of success. The competition season started on Tuesday, April 5 in a meet with five other teams at Columbus School for Girls. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams finished second at the meet. The boys’ team had 16 members earn points toward their varsity letter while the girls’ team had 13 members earn varsity points. At Tuesday’s meet, participants could receive points for placing fifth or better in each event. Team members from both the track, running events including team relays, and field events, non-running events such as high jump and shot put, earned points for the team.

Just running describes a young man who grew up in an environment filled with child abuse and neglect. It tells us a story of how a young mother, who was constantly drunk encouraged her child to steal for her. However, it also tells a story of how that young boy meant this wonderful woman who saw something special in him; it was because of her that he changed for the better. Freshman cross country runner Elaiza Gallegos has just hurt her achilles running in practice Thursday afternoon. Samantha Carson and Elaiza were going out for a warm-up run and the very first step Elaiza took she felt a pull in her achilles. Elaiza did not want to disappoint her coach and give up on running for the day. She continued with practice and that day they were running cemeteries. The following day she was unable to attend her meet in Center, Colorado because she could barely put pressure on her foot. The Centennial coaches and her mom did not want her to get hurt any further. Coach Fidel Sanchez said,” I want to make sure that my runners do not hurt themselves anymore and make sure that they will be healthy enough to run at regionals.

In sixth grade I quit the school band in the middle of my third year to join Running Club. The goal of Running Club was to run a 5k after weeks of practice and I accepted the challenge. Throughout the duration of training, I would find the long runs consistently demanding and a test to my motivation to persevere in the club. One of the coaches, Miss. Ames, was my teacher from the previous year and she ran with me during practice. She constantly encouraged me to push myself a little more every run and to keep practicing. I was frustrated with my performance, but Miss. Ames continued to encourage me. Nevertheless, preparing for that 5k was an eye-opening and an overall amazing experience.

Walking up to the starting line always gives me butterflies in my stomach. Looking over in the other lanes, seeing family and teammates alongside the track, waiting for the official to shoot the starting gun all adds to the feeling. Running track fills me with multiple feelings and pushes my physical limits.
Running is very good for humans in many different ways. It is a great way to get exercise, and a great way to meet new people. There are many positives, and some negatives, it is easy, enjoyable and makes humans more social, you can do it at anytime, and it relieves stress rather than give stress.
