Florence
Florence is home to many wonderful painters and artists during the renaissance. The one who did the ceiling of the cathedral that is shown is Giorgio Vasari. he was a renaissance painter, architect, and author. This artifact shows how extravagant they had gotten with their art, using perspective, shading and the influences of humanism to paint. This shows the true art of this time period.
Why was Florence important?
Florence is arguably the starting place of the renaissance. With many different artists there, the Medici Family in control and a very strong trading system, it was a very powerful city-state during the renaissance. During this time, the feudal system was no more. The people in

Wittenberg is the town that the reformation started in. This is where the catholic church was that Martin Luther nailed the these on the door to. With that, many people became Lutheran in this city and the catholic church did not like that. A lot of the reformation took place here because it was the starting point.
This artifact is in Libon. This statue is dedicated to Henry the Navigator. He sent a lot of people to go discover parts of the new world. Because of Henry the Navigator, Portugal conquered Brazil. He was very important to Portugal and the exploration era.
Why was Lisbon Important?
Lisbon is the main area that Henry the Navigator sent out his ships to discover the new world. This became a very popular trading depot because of its location and finding new things during exploration. This was a place where the Colombian Exchange happened, especially with what is now Brazil. This is also where Ferdinand Magellan set off to sail completely around the earth.
The Lamentation by Scorpion Pulzone shows exactly what Rome was like during the counter reformation. This painting shows how the catholic church wanted the art to look. They wanted all art to be focused on Jesus Christ and his Resurrection. During the counter reformation, the Catholic Church tried to bring all the attention back onto God. They wanted God to be the main focus, as seen in this painting, not anything
The significance of the republic policies were great, they brought a lot of growth in the 20’s allowing the market to strive over lots of trading and the purchase of shares, but was also an unstable market, as the government had no control over what it did and was left up to the
6. What specific actions did Hammurabi take in his attempt to provide for the good order of society and the basic welfare of his subjects?
Florence and Venice were two of the biggest cities during the Renaissance, although all the differences between them. One differences being their Political rulers . Florences Political leader was always determined by the wealthiest family and back then the wealthiest family was the Medici family. The Medici family were wool merchants and bankers. Both businesses were very successful and then the family became extremely wealthy and that's how they got to rule Florence.
Florence was a very important city during the Renaissance. The renaissance was a time of humanism, which was the belief that humans are greater than deity and supernatural. With this change came increase in the arts such as writers, painters, sculptures, architects, and more. A place that exhibits the change due to the renaissance is Brunelleschi’s Dome in Florence.
Florence was known to have a large part in the Renaissance. In Florence, there were two guilds; one was wealthy and powerful men and the other was made up of businessmen and craftsmen. Florence was known for banking, and the Medici open their own bank. Many of the wealthy people supported the arts, which allowed Florence to be a place where “rebirth” can begin. It also was a place where literature, art, and music flourished.
The two historical documents, Narrative of Lavinia Bell written by an anonymous author in the Montreal Gazette and the Letter to an English Abolitionist by James Henry Hammond, shared their strong opinions on the important issue of slavery. These documents were written in the 1800’s during an era of progressive changes. One can identify similarities and many differences in their opinions, motives, and goals for their writings. I believe Bell’s account was written to show the perspective of slaves’ brutal view, compared to Hammond’s letter justifying slavery and the rights of the slaveholders.
During the Renaissance, Florence was a large contributor to many new innovations. Florence had 12 guilds to help control trade. Florence also was very large in production of woolen cloth.
The Renaissance first began in Florence and peaked there as well. It peaked during the 15th and 16th centuries under the rule of the Medici family. With the Medici family in power, the Renaissance flourished as they were large patrons of the arts and were for painters and sculptors as they enjoyed works of art. The Medici family financed many painters and without their contributions, the Renaissance would have not gotten to where it was. Florence is known to have housed some of the greatest painters, such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. What was a very early architectural achievement of the Renaissance being the dome on top of the Florence Cathedral as nothing of the same caliber had ever been done before. Not only was Florence important for the Renaissance, but it was also known as a banking center and for its textile production.
early Renaissance. Florence, which is the capital of the Tuscan region, was the most prominent during this time. Before the Renaissance, thinkers such as Aristotle and other Christian philosophers impacted most of the ideas and ways of life in Florence. However during the 15th century, new thinkers started to emerge and fell under the influence of a richer class of ancient authors than had ever been seen in the Middle Ages. One man in particular named Cosimo de Medici became famous for his contribution to Florentine art and culture by taking political and economic risks, becoming a patron of the arts, and being named Pater patriae of Florence.
Besides the beginning of the Reformation taking place in Wittenberg other things did occur. One involves Martin Luther once again. Here, Luther wrote the New Testament in German. This was on of his greatest accomplishments, along with his posting of the 95 Thesis. Once the Bible began being written in different languages, it let people interpret the Bible themselves. This opened up people’s eyes to
The definition of the term renaissance is defined as a rebirth or revival (The Free Dictionary 2015). According to (The Free dictionary 2015) the Renaissance art movement is described as “A humanistic revival of classic art, architecture, literature and learning that originated in Italy in the 14th century and later it spread throughout Europe”. This Renaissance art movement consists of different periods such as the early and later Renaissance. Florence and the Medici were the highlights of the early renaissance period (Visual Arts Cork 2016). Why was Florence the centre of the early Italian renaissance? In the 14th century an awful plague took place in Florence named the Black Death (The Free Dictionary 2015). This horrible outbreak lead
Perugino’s, Christ Delivering the Keys of the Kingdom to Saint Peter, demonstrates the Renaissance artistic qualities, while connecting the art to the current Renaissance culture. The painting includes many detailed figures, along with an intricate background that displays an elegant town. Perugino also used reds and blues to add contrast to the painting and the story. The Renaissance certainly did not forget about religion, but it embraced a new view
The Renaissance was a period of social and cultural change and rebirth of arts in the 13th to 17th century in Italy. It began in Italy, when the country was just made up of independent city-states. A city-state is an independent city with its own government and ruler. During the Italian Renaissance, many city-states influenced the changing worldviews and varying perspectives. Many important factors influenced the changing of the Renaissance, including economy, politics, culture, social structure, and military. Even though each city-state wasn’t perfect and wasn’t always successful, the one that was the most successful if Florence. In this essay, I will be talking about the contribution of Florence in politics, social structure, and
World History in Context, written by David Christian (2003), questions the context of world history as well as the complexity of human history and the societies with which they live. In Christian’s article he argues that looking at world history in its global context, rather than one specific moment in history, is the way it is intended to be interpreted and allows historians to recognize reoccurring patterns and themes. World history is meant to be an unbiased account of only one specific species, humans (Christian 2003, 437-438). Historians often struggle with this challenging topic and tend to produce works extremely biased, usually towards stable ‘western civilizations’ and
Wittenberg was a peaceful town in eastern Germany, however in 1517, it turned into the home of the religious and political upset called the Reformation. Martin Luther, a Catholic cleric and a German minister, lived and considered in Wittenberg. The extraordinary occasion when he nailed his 95 Thesis to a congregation divided in
