To comply with legal requirements and legislations. These for example could be contractual obligations, employee role descriptions and responsibilities, remunerations etc. 2. The Continuous Professional Development (CPD) data for the employees, their succession planning and for ensuring the correct skillsets are retained within the organisation. 3. For grievances and disciplinary actions. 4. For background checks and vetting of employees before, during and after they are in employment of the organisation. Analysis and Interpretation of the data The report is based on responses collected from more than 1000 employers and 2000 employees, considered UK workforce only and was conducted in early January 2012. The report presents an in-depth view of the types of flexible working provisions offered by employers including part-time working, working from home, flexitime, compressed hours, career breaks/sabbaticals, mobile working, term-time working, secondments, annual hours and time off work in the community. Figure 1 provides the detailed data behind each of these types and which of these provisions have been most and least frequently offered. The statistics behind each of these types (Figure 1) helped me to analyse which flexible working patterns have really been offered and then comparing such data with the uptake of such offerings by the employees (Figure 2Error: Reference source not found), provided a clear view on which provisions actually work. Lastly, the benefits, barriers and trends in flexible working provided a deep insight into some useful tips organisations and employees should keep in mind while implementing or using flexible working provisions. Legal requirements such as certain laws, e.g. The Data Protection Act, which means that all businesses or companies that deal with personal information have to follow certain rules about keeping the data safe. The purpose of having these laws is so there is a set procedure for all companies to follow making everything fair and easy to understand for everyone in that country. Employers should provide a flexible working environment for their employees as some employees have medical conditions for example diabetes which requires the person to eat regularly and carry medical equipment with them including medication and a blood sugar level machine to check their blood sugar levels regularly. They should also make it flexible for people who have children in child care centres, so those employees can leave work early as child care centres close at 6pm and in case and employees child is sick so they can go and collect their child and look after them.
