Klyfix The world was dark , sad , and gloomy. The only shades people knew of were black and white. One day , Klyfix rose from the ground striking fire , turning it into a red shade. This red shade , was the first color anyone could see besides black and white. People became so interested in the color , that they started wanting more. Klyfix then started touching many things , from apple to strawberries to even books. Soon the fire started to die down , a second shade was then discovered , this shade was known as orange . As the fire was getting smaller and smaller , a third shade was seen , this was known as yellow. These 3 colors were known as the “warm” colors , because a fire is warm. Klyfix was so sad and angry about Diane leaving that he set her stuff on fire. After the fire had been going for a while , Klyfix threw water on the fire. That's when the shade purple was found , the red from the fire and the blue from the water mixed and created the shade. Things like grapes, onions and flowers became colorized. The shade purple was also known as a “cool” color. The world was now fully colorized , it was filled with warm and cool colors. Everyone was excited and happy , except Klyfix. Klyfix was still so angry he did something he knew he shouldn't. He took his sword and hunted for Daines lover , and when he found him , he killed him. Daines loves hit the ground , when he hit the ground some things turned back black and white. Stuff like rocks , berries , and soil became black and white. Even though some things remained black and white. The world was still colorized with the beautiful new shades , everyone was happy even Klyfix , the god of
The Hawaiian creation story tells us that long ago the world started off in total darkness, and out of the darkness two gods were born, Kumulipo and Po’ele. Kumulipo means “The Essence of Darkness” and Po’ele whose name means “Darkness Itself” These two created all the creatures of total darkness like the shellfish that live at the bottom of the ocean. These creatures made the darkness a little lighter and with every generation below Kumulipo and Po’ele the new creatures made the darkness a little lighter until the last descendants made humans that were dark but with every generation of humans they got lighter until they got the color they are now.
The changes in the rules and roles in Pleasantville created an uproar and chaos in the town. Initially the town was very resistant to change. However, after the change occurred the town appeared more balanced. The citizens were more happy and free when they were in color. The more aware they got the brighter things appeared, which is similar to an individual being sober.

From a historical perspective it was intriguing to discover how dyes affected the hierarchy in the ancient world. The repeated use of dyes represented a transition in humanity from simple hunting and gathering societies; to well developed structured governments and economies where people focused less on survival and more on status. Colors in ancient times represented political, military, and social status. Without the discovery of dyes kings would be clothed just like the normal people giving them a less godly appearance and less power. Even today certain connotations exist with colors like black for evil white for good, etc... The authors include this essay to demonstrate man’s first foray into chemistry by mixing and blending dyes to create more extravagant colors to sell. The lust for colorful clothes drove vendors to create more eccentric dyes, thereby forcing them to utilize experimental chemistry to create new shades and hues. The book here focuses too much on the historical aspects. I can see the relationship but it is weak and describing the chemical make up of colors doesn’t explain why it relates to history.
A remote capable of placing a human being into a TV show was given to a boy, David and his sister Jenn by a TV repair man. David thought Pleasantville was perfect it was his ideal universe. Jenn on the other hand wanted to change it, it didn't seem right to her something was missing. David soon realized that something was wrong as well, the people of Pleasantville were hiding something, they were hiding their emotions. That's where color comes in, the entire town is black and white without any color, or emotion.
One of the most important motifs of Zuask’s book was Death’s observations of colors. “A single hour can consist of thousands of different colors” (Zuask 4). Death uses colors as a distraction, to let it forget for even the slightest second that it is taking the soul of a once actually living thing. “It takes the edge off the
Although colour exists in ‘The Giver’, the people can only perceive a greyscale world. The reason for this is that they have been artificially induced to see only in black and white by scientists.
As we all know, color is the voice for the artist 's sentiment. It makes up the appearance of a picture. Color is the decisive factor in depths of the two-dimensional plane of the artwork, making the viewer feel physically and mentally attracted, or the context of things - the phenomenon the author wants to present. Colors have been around for a long time, but there is not a common definition for colors. And perhaps humans are one of the luckiest creatures that can identify colors. Often, the recipient 's eye knows a myriad of colors and colors that always change based on the relationship between light and perspective. In art, color creates a sense of
The lack of color on the television show Pleasantville describes a lot more than our technological advancements, it artistically captures the lack of free will we once had. Breaking free from their shells of self awareness the people of Pleasantville start to display their true colors so to speak. The distinct changes or unusual new found attitudes stirring up inside pleasantville remind myself of our very own past here in the united states over the last century or so.
A color that is largely talked about and shown is the color yellow. What does the color yellow represent? The yellow in the story 1408 represents fire and could also represent death. In the story, Mike Enslin set himself on fire. Mike wanted to burn the room down since he thought that he was not going to get out. Mike grabbed a bottle of alcohol and set the room on fire. Mike sat down on a chair while the fire was burning and just smoked his cigarette. The room had a way of making Mike go crazy and that causes him to set himself on fire and almost die. Yellow is the color of fire so that could be another reason that it is an obvious
The wicked prophets began their dance again, and circled the fire like moths to a light. “Pinch of pine, and hint of moss, piece of blood-soaked twine, and ruined copper tossed. To the fire we cast our thoughts, if green ignites then truth you’ve got!” The flames leaped up in a green inferno, which covered the camp in an emerald light.
Color causes things to change in Pleasantville. As the society around the characters, changes, they begin to change with it, color is introduced into Pleasantville. To prove this, look at how the mom reacts when she begins to have "color", she starts crying until Bud helped her put makeup
Thinking back to when I was a little kid, I was always so excited when I was handed a coloring sheet. I didn’t really care what color I used or if I colored outside the lines. As most children grow up, they start picking what they think are the prettiest colors and start to color inside the lines. I was one that never really followed that rule. I liked to be different and color outside those little black lines, instead of doing what most thought was normal. This made me who I am today. I wasn’t put on this world to act like or be someone I’m not. I’m my own color.
Caliban Y replied by saying, “Skin color is all I knew growing up on my land. Skin color became an
Color fills our world with beauty. We delight in the colors of a magnificent sunset and in the bright red and golden-yellow leaves of autumn. We are charmed by gorgeous flowering plants and the brilliantly colored arch of a rainbow. We also use color in various ways to add pleasure and interest to our lives. For example, many people choose the colors of their clothes carefully and decorate their homes with colors that create beautiful, restful, or exciting effects. By their selection and arrangement of colors, artists try to make their paintings more realistic or expressive.
