It is an extremely difficult time for the Music Industry which began in the 1930 and continues to be a hard time today in the year 1940, due to the great depression. Music is what lifts our spirits and raises our morale for a better tomorrow while we are going through the Great Depression. Regardless, their low income people still seek music due to, desiring a relief from their deprivation, and poverty they have to go through day-to-day. Genres that are currently famous during these onerous times from 1930 through 1940 were country, western, and jazz music. Artist who composed these types of music talked about a brighter future, the hardships they have to go through everyday and surviving them. In 1930

Throughout the 1910-1920s there were many events that occurred throughout the decade that affected the quality of life of people. For example, the first event was on April 6th, 1917, when the United Sates “joined allies—Britain, France, and Russia—to fight in World War I”(America Story from America's Library, n.d.). The reason that the United States decided to fight the war would be because of the various “disagreements in Europe over territory and boundaries among other issues”(America Story from America's Library, n.d). How the World War I would have impacted me on my leisure and recreation activities would be that there would be “adequate creation programs adjacent to army and navy stations and training camps”(Leisure and American Lifestyle,
The person who I going speak about did amazing things. The person lived during the 1920s-1960s. In this sets of arguments, I am going talk about the 1950s-1960s. In the 1950s, a civils rights movement happens. The civics’ right movement features African Americans that fight for equal civil rights. They were fighting this for centuries however; a major impact helps the African Americans during the 1950s. The congress ruled that segregated education facilities for black children is unequal for the Brown vs. Board of Education case ruling, South resisted this by putting their children in all-whites segregation camp. During 1956, many Southern congressmen sign a “Southern Manifesto” saying that defend segregation.
Agriculture was the worst form in American economy. The recession during 1920-1925 was hit hard and farmers were still recovering from that made it worse because the mortgage experience throughout the war years and all the farming equipment was so expensive. Farmers were not making enough money since the prices were falling, they had to risk closing down. Textiles, mining, railroad and lumbering industry was also affected. Textiles industry suffered from the decreasing request and large amounts of excess in clothes made. Railroad industry wasn’t making enough revenue because of the loss of passengers. Mining and lumbering industries were making more than what was being sold.
During the years between 1915 and 1970, some six million black southerners left their homelands in the South to move to the northern and western states looking for a better life.( The Reason why this i so significant to me is during this time period the great moving from one place to another was in effect and during this time period 6 million African Americans from the away from cities South to the cities of the North, Midwest and West from 1916 to 1970, affected a lot city based life in the United States. Driven from their homes by unsatisfactory money based opportunities and marsh separating people by race, religion, etc.ist laws, many blacks headed north, where they took advantage of the need for industrial workers that first rose up during
I watched the film “The True Welcome PBS Episode 4”. The film covered how the great depression of the 1930’s impacted Jazz music. When the stock market crashed in the start of the 1930’s, many Americans lost their jobs and homes, and as a result, couldn’t afford the luxury of spending money in entertainment. Music stores were selling less records. Although, poverty was prevalent during this period, Jazz music became an outlet for Americans. Places like “The Savoy” ballroom in Harlem would fill up because of the new Jazz style that was being played: Swing music.
A lot of people fell into a great depression, but rock & roll and jazz music
The Roaring Twenties was a decade absorbed with the growth of the music industry thanks to the radio being born in 1920 (Tyle). The excitement of the war being over brought the Roaring Twenties forth. The American people hungered for change, and the new music of the era, jazz, satisfied their great hunger (100 Favourite Songs). Jazz was a brand new type of music drastically different from anything the American people had heard before. Unfortunately, the Great Depression, which occurred in the thirties, brought forth an aroma of sadness and despair in the lives of the American people. Would jazz also cave into the Depression? Or fight back? Although the mood of the American people changed from the Roaring

The Great Depression was a time of complete panic and uncertain futures. Many people lost their jobs due to the stock market crash in October of 1929 (“Great Depression”). Millions of investors were wiped out which caused consumer spending and investments to be dropped (“Great Depression”). This lead to an increase in homeless people who were dying of starvation. Many farmers could not afford to harvest any of their crops, so the food that could immensely help feed America’s population just sat on the fields and rotted away. People were terrified of how their futures would turn out. Nearly half the country’s banks were closing and the world appeared to be ending to most people, but the music that was being
The music that was present in World War II was extremely versatile and happy, which helped keep spirits high among everybody. Styles such as swing, blues, and jazz were popular music styles at the time. By the end of 1941, 96.2% of Americans owned radios. This granted greater access to music and information on the war. This is in contrast to World War I, where most citizens of the world were not as connected to the war through radio. In a way, the mass distribution of music was unifying for the American citizens and troops. However, many African-American musical artists used music to highlight the hypocrisy of the Americans fighting for freedom at that time because there was still a lot of segregation and discrimination in the United States and in it’s military.
