The image depicts a motor cycle repair shop during the 1920’s, with rental rooms available next to the motor cycle shop. The age of the image can be determined through certain factors seen on the image. The first are the three motor cycles shape and size, which depict a design used during the First World War. The window panes advertisements on both the motor cycle shop and the plaza rental flats also date bake to the same period as this made advertisement cheaper. The photograph is also black and white which another clue is since collared photographs only began being produced commercially during after the 1950’s. It’s important to be able to look at an image and determine the era from which is comes from as this allows the viewer to connect

In a great time of need, the people of Canada endured great pain, suffering, and a life that didn’t seem worth living. When the stock market crashed, so did the prosperity of the Roaring 20s (for most people) and the future was unknown. During this grim time, an expected saviour would arise, but to the people’s dismay, they were given Richard B. Bennett. Historians are right to criticize his response to the economic calamity and its outcomes. Predominantly, unemployment was at a record high and to ease the problem, he poured $20 million dollars into relief camps. This proved insufficient to fight against the growing human cost of the economic collapse. Their biggest concern was single, unemployed, and miserable men. They were potential threats
When you think about the 1920’s you probably think gangsters, jazz clubs, sports, and movies. But in actuality it was one of the first times “that put the rights of the individual in conflict with the demands of society or the state” (Lerner). This conflict was over the eighteenth amendment, also known as the Prohibition Act. Prohibition “banned the production, transport and sale (but not the private possession or consumption) of intoxicating liquors” (“Digital History”).
These photos do an excellent job of showing how just how bad the times were in the early 1900’s during the depression. They also show just how bad race relations were during this time in our country’s history as well. With that being said these photos can be taken and learned from in multiple ways. Because these photos are reminders they will forever live in history and are ones that I hate talking about because I would never want to experience either one of these situations nor walk in these people's shoes. I am so lucky to live in a free and thriving country that many people including myself take for granted at times.
The Other Side of the Roaring Twenties “A revolution in manners and morals”. Who can think about the 1920s without the terms “flapper”, “automobile”, “Golden Age” or “women’s right to vote”? Possibly no one. Indeed, the 1920s were an era of cultural, social and political change. New inventions, like the radio, made the country more connected than ever before.
For those who see Abigail Williams as a victim, they are clearly delusional. Abigail Williams is an viscious instigator. She is gifted at many things including spreading death and destruction. Abigail personality is a ringleader and a vengeful liar. She doesn’t care about anyone, she plays her cards to her advantage and screws many people over.
After reading this please give this letter to a historian. This letter is all about 1920s inventions fads and music. I hope not a lot as changed. In the 1920s fellas and babes were enjoying the fine life. At this time period the country was diverse. Jazz became a new thing. The african americans introduced this music from jazz we got the shimmy, turkey trot, buzzard lope, chicken scratch, monkey glide, and the bunny hug all dances that would usually go with jazz . We also had country music for the farmers and the people that usually lived around plains, jazz was more for the city folks. What a balled up type of music. Of course broadway is one. If you go to a speakeasy your hear jazz and all types of music. That’s what my uncle tells me, never
The nineteen twenties can be summed up as one of the most important improvements on theatre, paintings, music, building, and culture.
Republicans managed to protect their system of tariffs until 1913, when Democratic President Woodrow Wilson and a Democratic Congress finally lowered the tariffs and replaced the lost revenue with taxes. The fight over the government’s role in the economy switched for a struggle on tariffs to a fight over taxes, and few Americans even remember now why tariffs were so important to the late 19th century. But to people who lived after the Civil War, tariffs symbolized a much larger struggle between rich and poor, employers and workers, capital and labor. Tariffs were at the very heart of the questions raised by the new era of industry.
The roaring 1920’s was an era full of prosperity and outstanding inventions. New items were constantly being invented and being used. The automobile has affected the 1920’s society in many ways which include the changes it brought, its pros and its cons. The invention of the automobile brought a huge change to the 1920’s.
One of the grooviest time periods in American history was the 1920s. The roaring 20s, as its often called, deserves the title of "roaring" as it was a time of great cultural uproar for both splendid reasons, such as jazz and independent women, and some awful reasons, such as the treatment of immigrants and organized crime. Numerous factor of the 1920s made it "roaring", between the creation of jazz, flapper (outgoing and independent women), and "More people had money than ever before. And, mostly, they were intent on having a good time.", which made the 20s a time of radical and groovy cultural change in America. Jazz music was created from a mixture of songs with a syncopated rhythm, blues, and the band music played at New Orleans funerals.
The 1920’s in America was a time of experimentation, economic prosperity, and political conservatism. After World War I, the United States experienced the Great Migration, Prohibition, and immigration restrictions. It was a time for internal conflicts to arise because of bewildering change.
The “Roaring Twenties”, the “Jazz Age”, the decade that went from “Boom to Bust”, whatever you call it, the 1920s is known as a time of prosperity, optimism, and opportunity. At a glance the twenties could easily be considered the most influential decade in history. From the newly modified fashion trends and the developing music industry, to the life changing scientific and technological advancements, the 1920s was a time of constant change. Government rulings, like the 18th and 19th Amendments and the Prohibition Act, worked to quickly dictate the direction society was headed. The production of developments in the big cities like the Yankee Stadium, Sears store, and Wrigley Building founded ideas of a promising future (people). New figures,
n today's world the majority of people rely on the mainstream media to get educated about the events happening all around the world. Getting the news out quick and accurate for people to read, has always been the problem for the people working in the media. At first newspapers was the popular way for spreading the news. Then the introduction to the television made newspaper news absolute, since news can be spreaded out rampant and across different platforms. In the 1920’s the very first media outlets to make a appearance were ABC, CBS, and NBC news. The original three broadcasted the news to the public, but from a liberal point of view. As it turns out, being focused on left ideas dominated the mainstream media even with the launch of CNN and MSNBC in 1990 which offered a greater
I chose to analyze the case study, Tug Of War that was written by Yossi Sheffi and is found in the Harvard Business Review.
