The formation of alliances has significant impact on certain countries. The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand signalled the rapid side in the world war, therefore this wasn’t the only cause that occurred there were other underlying causes in the rumor up of the World War there was imperialism, nationalism, even militarism the war lasted through four years of 1914-1918. It ended with 10 million men dead and 20 million wounded. In the same year the Austria-Hungary has formed an alliance in 1914, therefore the country made a triple alliance with Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy and that Germany one day would worry that they have to fight in a war. On Wednesday, August 5 1914, in document B, there was a cartoon that was published that was called “The Crime Of The Ages”, and was made by John T. MChueton his point of view that all of countries have started a war which made a lead in militarism. The underlying world tragedy cause assassination, grief and diseases. On document C the ratios and percentages shows of how much they spent for weapons and how it drastically changed in 1890-1914. The name of the countries that were …show more content…
Because of it, Britain was already prepared for the war, two other countries didn’t care for the war, which is why they don’t have the highest number. Adapted Colin Nicolson, “The first World War Europe 1914-1918, Essex England,”For the argument status, this could help because it was underlined as in Militarism and Imperialism which Britain and the other country were already in a war and standing in control. Although we didn’t reach our points of making world peace with did make military tactics and new technology at the trench warfare. Militarism, Imperialism, and Alliances were the three main categories for the underlying of the cause in
In document 1, it explains how American civilians played a huge role in the Allied war effort and America’s stance on the war before 1917. Americans contributed to the war before even joining it by giving their allies money. In document 1 it states, “During the
Leading up to 1915, European powers were intent on having the largest most powerful armies, therefore increasing the competition between nations and eventually leading to an arms race. All European nations began to spend more money on weapons per capita, with Germany, Britain, and France spending the most (Document 1). Militarism called not only for more weapons, but also more advanced ones. In the Great War, poison gas and tanks are introduced, along with the first use of airplane and submarine warfare. Now prepared for war with large armies and navies, countries were more willing to go to war because they believed they had a better chance of achieving victory.
The unconditional support from alliances can be blamed to cause World War I. The nature of the alliances is laid out in the alliance document. The alliances stipulated assistance and contribution of the signing parties in the event of conflict. It can extend from money or logistic sponsorship, similar to the supply of materials or weapons, to military activation and a statement about war. Partnerships might likewise contain currency components, for example, trade agreements, investment or loans. It is best known to cause World War I. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, European nations formed, abolished, or restructured their own alliances. By 1914, the Great Powers of Europe split into two opposing alliance blocs. For quite a long time Europe had been a mixture of ethnic and regional competitions, political interests, contending desires, military dangers, suspicions and disorder. France and England were antiquated foes whose competition ejected into open fighting a few times between the fourteenth and mid nineteenth hundreds of years.
During the start of the 20th century, Europe was in a good place. It controlled many empires and colonies, and technology was advancing at a rapid pace after the Industrial Revolution (1840-1870). However this peace did not last; 1914 started a brutal four year war known as WWI. The immediate cause of this war is known to be the assassination of the Archduke of Austria, Franz Ferdinand, in June of 1914. However, there are many more elementary causes of this complicated war. Some of the main underlying causes of WWI was the strong militarism and imperialism felt in the European countries, and the alliances put in place to uphold these powerful militaries and colonies.
During the 1914’s a great event known as WWI took place and it had several impacts on the U.S. This event happened because of imperialism by Serbia. They wanted to expand their land so that they could create Greater Serbia or Yugoslavia. They needed land they did not have so they asked Austria-Hungary for a portion of land. Austria-Hungary said no to this. A terrorist group known as the Black Hand were not happy with Austria-Hungary’s response so their leader Gavrilo Princip organized a plan to kill their Archduke and family. After the dead of the Archduke, Austria-Hungary blamed Serbia for the dead of the Archduke so the declared war (Document 4). Serbia had an alliance with Russia so that if they ever entered a war Russia would have their back. Latter on other countries joined the war such as France, Italy, and Britain to aid Serbia and Russia (Document 2), they were known as the allies. Germany, Turkey, and Bulgaria also joined the war to help Austria-Hungary, they were known as the Central Powers.
When the war began there was a growth in weapons. From 1890 to 1914 the rate of weapons shot up (Document C). Germany spent millions of dollars improving their military to get ready for war (Document C). To keep up with Germany many of the other countries had to update their militaries. Arms build-up is more important than the network of alliances because Bulow had a feeling Germany would win, and due to his feeling, it would get self-determination levels to a high standard. If the Germans lost, all confidence would be lowered making war strategies difficult to defeat in the future. Arms build up was important because Bernhard Von Bulow had a feeling Germany was gonna win (Document D). Militarism was a huge factor in the cause of World War
During the time frame of 1900-1930, there was rapid industrialization; urbanization and innovation, which was a key part of American growth as a nation. Thanks to technological innovation of the assembly line factories could mass produce, trusts and corruption in business led to progressive ideologies, and industrial opportunity for minorities during WWI demonstrated the power of those minorities as workforce. Industrialization and technological advancements were a key part of American growth because of the stimulated urbanization; progressive ideals; growth of industry, and bettered economic opportunity for minorities such as African Americans and Women.
A system of alliances was originally created for protection and guarantee that they would be of aid to one another if attacked. However, they were more harmful than beneficial because they caused countries not involved in the argument to fight against one another. The Triple Alliance which was made up of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy was on one side of the war. The Triple Entente which was made of Britain, France, and Russia was the other side (Document A). The opposing countries began to declare war against one another, and soon the entire continent of Europe was at war with itself. The start of the war spread like wildfire throughout the world, and in one newspaper were shown to be blaming each other based on their alliances for who killed the peace in Europe. The blame game between the childish nations only created more tension, as they had to support the countries they made alliances with (Document B). All in all had it not been for these complex alliances, a more local conflict being the assassination would only have brought about a war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia, instead of turning into a continental war. It forced nations not involved in the initial argument to participate in the “Crime of the Ages,” even if they did not want
In the twentieth century many Europeans liked the idea of having a totalitarian government. The people in Europe found this to be somewhat comforting. They knew that things would be okay if everything was controlled. Part of this was the idea “all for one and one for all”. For this to work out, there were things that had to be contributed to the governments. There were economic, social, and political conditions that helped to transition from the current government that they were using to the totalitarian government.

From 1815 to 1850 the many racial and gender problems throughout the United States of America greatly affected that point of views of many people today. The U.S. did not fulfill the ideals of the Declaration of Independence for all people by 1850 because the woman and the african americans did not have the freedom or rights that many of the slave owners or husbands did.
With the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand the heir to the Austrian throne fight broke out between Serbia and Austria-Hungary. This pulled alliances into the war causing world war. In Document 8 the picture show total war and the lack of mercy each country showed to one another. This showed how quickly a simple land disputed between Serbia and Austria-Hungary turned into a cold blooded war. The inhuman ways of total war shows it's mark globally.
When discussing the First World War, there are a myriad of topics, theories and debates that can be brought up, especially when its regarding to its breakout and and what lead to it. There are multiple direct and indirect causes that all are interconnected with one another, making it very difficult to just discuss about one topic without it overlapping with another completely different topic. The alliance system can be viewed as major causes from two main different perspectives; it can be considered as a immediate cause or as a indirect background cause. However, the existence of the alliances is crucial to the bringing about of the first world war from both perspectives
