At a time when a black man or women, born in America was oppressed from their right to vote, and when employers looked at the color of your skin before your resume. Executive order number, 10925 was placed to ease America back into integration.
The mid 1900’s, this was an oppressing time for the African American community.
With a heart saddening background, what was left was a tarnished image of the American dream. It allowed the community to think otherwise from the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The 14th amendment was ratified July 9th, 1886. At Washington, D.C, John F. Kennedy was speaking his inaugural address.* It was here that he said in the second paragraph; “ the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.” In the same speech, Kennedy pledges to those mentioned, but what he does is not pledge himself to adversary states, but asks for a request that both sides begin anew quest for peace. Kennedy in short words, cared. He unknowingly used his last months in office to progress the clustering of what would be the civil right movement.
Ahead the 1963 march to Washington, like any President would be, John F. Kennedy was said to have some jitters. John Lewis, 23 meet with Kenned. He said, “ it was a very moving meeting.” He said that Kennedy seemed to be deeply concerned, he was demonstrating so in his facial and body expressions. When we talk about inequality between races, many things can be thought of, such as rights, privilege or house income. * During the 1950’s the average white median family income was $19,900 which would be in 3,445 in current dollar. Compared to a black family to which the average median family income was $11,206 in the 1950’s which is $1,869 in current dollar. By doing the math, that is and astonishing 56% higher pay for the white family.
