A lot of times when other people see student athletes flourishing in their sport, they think the athletes didn’t earn their success, or that what they accomplished was just handed to them. This may be out of jealousy, or maybe they really do feel that way. However, in almost every case, the athlete is putting in extra work when no one is watching and, in some cases before everyone is awake. The players are striving to be the best they can be, and it is a long, difficult journey. Personally, I have committed to the hard work necessary to achieve success over my 13-year soccer career, but this was especially true the summer of 2016.
On February 8, 2017, the day after I accepted a soccer scholarship to play at the University of Wisconsin-Madison,
Success is a very sought after aspect in our society. Everyone strives for the nicest car, the largest home, or the most exciting job. However, Malcolm Gladwell’s book, Outliers, discusses how the path to success is not simple and it has a lot of factors that play into it. Being on a sports team throughout school or being a “student-athlete” may be one of them. Student athletes learn concepts like teamwork, hard work, and persistence—all of which are critical parts of the average adult career. The sports that these children and teens participate in fuel their competitive drive that can only help them in the workplace.
Soccer was developed in London famed Newgate Prison in the early 1800’s. Prisoners who had their hand cut off for crimes of theft came up with a sport that used only the feet. The game spread from there. The word “Soccer” originated as a slang abbreviation of the word “association”. Soccer is called “football” in most other countries. Soccer is known worldwide, it is one of the world’s most popular team sports. If you follow these pieces of information you will become a successful soccer player.
Soccer the most popular sport in the world with over 3.5 billion fans and over 265 million players. The primary focus has always been on the players but what about the people that crafted the players. Several types of coaches can positively or negatively influence the player. The role of a coach changes with the level that they coach on but they all have the same core purpose. Their core purpose is to allow the player to become the best they can be with their tutoring.
Over the years, we have seen colleges and universities benefit extremely from their sports programs. Every year a great team brings tremendous amounts of revenue for their university. However, as these universities increase their finances, their athletes are falling behind financially, academically, socially and personally creating a huge burden upon them. College/university athletes practically work overtime for their academic institutions. While many perceive student athletes as living ‘the life’ because of sports, the reality remains that they suffer from social, personal, academic and psychological stress. They constantly live their lives by strict schedules to avoid falling behind in their multiple responsibilities .Student athletes face various pressures, yet they are not frequently rewarded; therefore their academic institutions should reward them financially, beyond scholarships for their participation in collegiate sports.
Soccer is a great sport and the sport can be played both girls and boys sport. Also the sport can be played at a college level, Anybody can play it and it not that hard to play. Soccer in the most popular and most played in the world. Soccer should become a sport at SCHS.
Being a professional athlete is one of the most commonly heard dreams of a young boy or girl who currently elementary school. Whether it is realistic or not, these kids will be participating in the sport that they wish to thrive in. But, time after time we hear adults complain about their child’s insane soccer schedule, or how they have to spend their whole weekend traveling for games. The parents complaints shouldn’t be the topic of discussion, in fact the only opinions that matter are the children. The question shouldn’t be asking whether or not youth sports are too intense, it should be asking if it is worth it. If a child loves what they’re doing then they have every reason to continue playing their sport, but if they are not all in, he or she has to question whether or not all the craziness is worth it.
Waking up before the sunrise is a daily routine. Early morning film sessions, class, then practice, which dominates the day. There are few moments in between for food and socializing, but the life of a student athlete is anything but ordinary. Sleep, eat, practice and school are all an athlete knows, and with the pressures of campus life it becomes even more difficult. No time for much of anything, let alone getting a job. Like most students, these athletes need money, but do not have a spare second to work. Without any source of income, athletes are put at a major disadvantage. Their full-time job is athletics, in addition to rigorous college-level courses. The possibility of becoming a professional and making millions becomes very appealing. This course of action leads to student athletes making money illegally, dropping out of school, or leaving school early without a degree to try and make it professionally.

As finish my freshman year At Cardinal Spellman High School and it’s clearly visible see my academics are off to a good start. My plans are to complete a good school year. In my first year at Cardinal Spellman High School, I have enjoyed playing on the varsity soccer team. I felt privileged to be the recipient of the Gold Boot Award. I have always loved sport, but I through this opportunity I have discovered
All of the publicity that is attained by success, and the possibility of this success, places a great deal of pressure and stress on these young single-sport athletes. This stress and pressure takes the fun out of some sports. Youth sports are becoming serious and based more on winning than on having a great time and learning good sportsmanship. Adu points out the winning mindset of athletes in this day and age when he says, “Teams will do anything to win the game. My coach told me to expect that going in and that is exactly how it was. . .I felt like everybody was out to get me” (Goodall, 2003). This
Soccer is a popular sport played all over the world. Even though it has only been popular in the United States for the past 30 years, soccer has been a long time favorite most everywhere else. The sport dates back to the Egyptians, who played games involving the kicking of a ball. Now, the sport has grown to a global pastime, including men’s and women’s teams, and the World Cup (which is played every four years).
One Saturday morning my soccer team, my family, and I got up early for a soccer tournament in Ohio. The first game we played was a team called the Celtics at 8:30. We won 2-0. Then at 3:15 we play a Cincinnati United and the score was 1-3 and we also won. Then during the middle of both of the games, we played a card game called kemps. How to play is each player gets 4 cards and have to get all of the same and do your signal and if the other team sees you then they yell stop kemps and if your teammate sees you then they say kemps and you try to spell the word.
Soccer which is considered the world’s most common played sport. This sport is played between two teams of 12 people. There are many different positions on the field. These two team’s player with a round ball that may not be touched with the hands or arms during play except by the goalkeepers. The object of the game is to score goals by kicking or heading the ball into the opponents' goal. The most important position on the soccer field is the defenders. I believe the best defender is Sergio Ramos who plays for Spain. This position is expected to defend the goal and stop opponents from scoring so without this position the goalie has no help. Defenders need to be conditioned, aware of their surroundings, and react fast. Defenders overall role
Not everybody earns rewards for their demanding work they truly deserve it for. Lets bring up Montrail’s situation and how his college was paid for; however, there are other students resembling his position that do not have this luck. This is not fair to others as a few are blessed with marvelous opportunities. How can one be awarded with immense opportunities to do more in life while the other might flip patties living in dept. Now let's not forget how much trouble the adolescent cause as one has been in prison before. They fight with teammates, coaches, and other players as in one of the games there were implications for a fight if the police had not intervened. In sports the grueling work one performs only matters when the talent is there, but unfortunately this team did not have enough talent to win because not all live to win. Working persistently never guarantees tremendous opportunities will arise as even the hardest worker won’t always secure the promotion and that's how life is it
Soccer is one of the most important sport in Europe and America. About 270 million people play soccer around the world. Soccer was first played and created in England in December 1863.
