The Twelve Apostles By: Daniel Tae -Basic Informations The Twelve Apostles is located in the shore of the Campbell National Park next to the Great Ocean Road in Victoria,Australia. It was formed by an erosion which was caused by extreme weather condition and the harssh wave of the South Ocean. According to geologists the erosion started around 10 to 20 million years ago and the process is still not ended. Even though they are called The Twelve Apostles there aren’t actually twelve stacks of stones. Sadly in nowadays there are only eight Apostles left out of twelve because the ninth stack collapsed dramatically in 3rd of July 2005. In 2003 Unesco was trying to protect the 9 remaining limestone stacks but they could not stop the strong waves and harsh wind collapsing the 9th stack. -Interesting Facts -The Twelve …show more content…

Kangaroo Point Cliffs are one of the most iconic places that highlight Brisbane city’s history along with the Brisbane City Hall and Story Bridge. These cliffs were known by Aborigines even before European settlers arrived in Brisbane. The development around the Kangaroo Point Cliff was started in the 1900s when roads were developed around the cliff. Today, the Kangaroo Point Cliff offers many adventurous activities such as rock climbing, kayaking on the Brisbane River, Segway tours, bike riding around the garden etc. The rocks found on these steep cliffs are known as the ‘Brisbane Tuff’. These unique pink and green stones were also used in building public buildings during the 1820s and 1830s. The very steep feature and gas holes on the cliff plays a significant role in identifying these cliffs a result of a volcanic eruption (Visit Brisbane, 2018). This essay analyses geological formation of Kangaroo Point cliff and the Brisbane tuff which the
New South Wales West locates one of the greatest archaeological sites in Australia’s history, that is, Lake Mungo.
When considering excavation methods, the location of the site has to be taken into account, as many archaeological methodologies can cause long-term damage to the site. So considering conservation strategies and methods is crucial. This directly applies to New Kinord, as the
A few hundred kilometres to the south-east of Broken Hill in Mungo National Park, the land’s eldest human remnants were found. Mungo National Park offers continuous 40,000 year record by Aboriginal people for the occupation of Australia.
Both Australian Fossil Mammal Site and Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump are considered archeological sites which have unique challenges in comparison to other heritage sites. Conserving archaeological sites in urban environments includes two perspectives: the challenges of preserving archaeological sites in densely populated areas and the study of the evolution of the settlement itself. Both perspectives are essential in preserving the relationship between individual sites and the settlement as a whole.6 Conserving archaeological sites in urban environments, can be of large efforts. Australian Fossil Mammal Sites and Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump on the other hand do not need to be concerned about this dilemma due to their large proximity to civilization. Also since the large distance from the sites to civilization these heritage site avoid another large challenge some heritage sites face. Having a heritage site close to highly populated area often need to deal with pollution, new constructions, upgrades for public works and intensive traffic.6 Another potential challenge all heritage sites face is lack of interest and funding. It is important to maintain stakeholders for each site to generate interest and provide funding for proper archeological site maintenance. The World Heritage Convention states the biggest challenge for historical sites is funding and technical assistance.9 One of the most important challenges is for future World Heritage cultural landscapes to be better used as a tool for regional development and poverty eradication.9 Maintenance is an important part of the Preservation process. Regular maintenance will preserve character defining elements and extend the service life of functional components.6 As the conservation challenges increase, as sites face the impact of global processes, UNESCO will have to rethink and reshape
The Kangaroo Point Cliffs made a huge part in the improvement of the capital of Queensland and port of Brisbane. They are a unique landscape feature of Brisbane along with the Brisbane City Hall and the Story Bridge. Geological history remarkably important is our understanding of which provides the widest and most fundamental picture of the universe.
Introduction Stretching a massive 3,000 km along Queensland’s coastline, beginning at the top of the Cape York Peninsula in the north, extending down to Bundaberg in the south and covering 348,000km2 is where lays the Great Barrier Reef.
Ever since I was six years old, the year I was baptized, I have been on fire for the Lord. I attended a Christian school for eight years and have always been very involved at my church. My first experience outside of my “Christian bubble” was when I went to a public high school. For the first time in my life, I was out of my comfort zone. Being at a public school challenged my faith, strengthened my leadership skills, and forced me to branch out and meet people I would have never encountered otherwise. However, even though being at a public school helped strengthen my faith in ways I would have never guessed, I believe attending a Christian university—like Liberty—is the best choice to further my education. Going to college is new and exciting, but it can also be a demanding and intimidating experience. Being so far away from home, in a different environment,
To be a knight means that you have been assigned by a king or any other political, or religious leader, in our case the most high king, our lord Jesus Christ, to do a service. Our king, Jesus Christ, has called us, the knights of the Kingdom, to, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19).” This is our mission as Christians, no matter what denomination you are, you have been called by God to spread the gospel.
Baptism in (or with) the Holy Spirit is a very important, distinctive Christian experience in the life of the believer. The basis is found in the book of Acts, specifically the event of Pentecost.
Formed due to the constant erosion of limestone cliffs some 10–20 million years ago, the caves in the cliffs are the result of gradual erosion of the softer limestone due to the blasting winds and the stormy Southern Ocean. Eventually, the caves took the shape of arches. When they collapsed rock mounds up to 45 metres high were left isolated from the shore. The view of the 12 Apostles at sunrise and sunset is beautiful as they change colour from dark and foreboding in shadow to dazzling sandy yellow under a full sun.
The principles of discipleship can be found throughout the Bible. One of the ultimate goals of discipleship is to become more Christ like which makes Jesus's life and grace an excellent basis for discipleship. Jesus invested in twelve men, the first Disciples, and entrusted them to continue the process. Peter, James, and John were a part of Christ's inner circle and he fostered and encouraged an exalted spiritual life and growth in these three. Paul was a Pharisee who was murdering Christians and then his life was transformed and he became an apostle. He gave his life over to God's purpose not only in a broad perspective, bringing the Gospel to the Gentiles, but also personal. Timothy was a disciple of Paul; Paul was personally involved in Timothy's life. The Great Commission commands the Disciples, in Matthew 28:19, to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit". The Disciples followed the Great Commission and Christianity spread. Believers are meant to follow the
At this time Jesus, who was walking by the Sea of Galilee appointed Andrew, Simon, James, and John to be four of the twelve disciples, this is found in Matthew 4:18-22.
The New Testament is a collection of books which contains the writings concerning the significant events in the life of Jesus of Nazareth. These books appeared after the physical death of Jesus Christ. In this regard, Jesus had left no records concerning him, and all that is written about him depends wholly on what other people have written about him. The first four books of the New Testament are part of the several biographies of Jesus which were written by the end of the first century of the era of Christianity. Then before any of these biographies have been drafted, there were Christian communities which were being instructed through epistles on how to live like Jesus and how to solve their problem like Christians. A good number of these letters were written by a man called Paul. After Paul death, some other new leaders of the Christian movement continued to write letters to the churches to encourage and strengthen them. As Christians grew in number persecution arose, and some letters have been drafted to support them and also to counter the false doctrines. These letters are part of the New Testament. The twenty-seven books of the New Testament were selected from the list of writings in that period (Bruce, 1988)
