Belief in the resurrection of Christ is essential to Christian faith. In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul makes this point clear. Moreover, the chapter illustrates that through Christ’s death and resurrection we have been given victory over sin and death. Verses 1-10 are primarily concerned with the resurrection of Christ and the grace given to the apostles to spread the good news. The resurrection of the dead is addressed in verses 12-34. Finally, the passage closes (verses 35-58) with a proclamation of the victory attained through Jesus’ resurrection.
First, Paul seeks to prove to the Corinthians that Christ was raised from the dead. It is the foundation of our faith. Therefore, no Christian should partake in denying this foundational truth. He applies evidence from scripture and eyewitness accounts to prove that Christ’s resurrection was far from allegorical:

Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles. Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him” (1 Corinthians 15:3-8, NLT).
The apostle is adamant about confirming the account of the resurrection because believing that Christ is alive is imperative. Without the basis of trust in this event, the Corinthians cannot approach any other matter within Christian faith correctly. Essentially, anyone who denies that Jesus rose from the dead will be unable to backup any other claims concerning
He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God”(The Holy Bible). The history and the facts of Christ are very important to the Christian faith. If Christ had never been resurrected from the dead, then the whole Christian religion would be false (“History of Christianity”). 1 Corinthians 15:14 explains, “And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain”(The Holy Bible). The resurrection of Christ is extremely important to Christians, because the resurrection proves what they believe, giving purpose to their lives. “About 32 percent of people in the world, or 2.1 billion individuals, describe themselves as Christians. Some Christians believe that only those who are 'born again ' can claim to be Christians, which is why the number tends to fluctuate”(King).
Jesus is alive, for he continued to work in the lives of his disciples. The change of the lives of his followers demonstrate the work of Christ in them. Our historical knowledge relies on testimonies. The testimonies of the disciples are valid because eleven of them dies for their belief in the claims that Jesus made (McDowell 89-90). The power of Jesus is shown through them. Initially, they were cowards in their faith. Peter denied Jesus three time, and Thomas doubted Jesus’ resurrection. The disciples’ weak faith in Jesus and doubt in his resurrection suddenly transformed into an undeniable belief that led them to give up their lives for this Jesus. What could have changed the disciples’ minds so suddenly besides the witnessing of the resurrection of Jesus. They all personally had an encounter with the resurrected body of Jesus. Peter, one of the disciples of Jesus, proclaimed that

The Corinthians challenged Paul’s teaching about the afterlife because they shared some of the views of the Greek Philosophy that is purely a spiritual experience (Harris, 2014). They felt that the resurrection of Christ that Paul describes was irrelevant. However, Paul explains to them that if Christ had not risen from the grave, then there would be no afterlife. He goes on to say that the life that Christians are living would be in vain, and all hope would be lost. Then, Paul provides greater detail to the Corinthians about how the link of Jesus’ resurrection to the Christian hope of the afterlife was brought about to all of humanity. He explains in the book of Genesis that Adam brought about death to all humans but that due to the resurrection of Christ we now have eternal life. In the second coming, all believers will join Christ during the resurrection in their spiritual
The resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone of Christianity and it is all that Christianity stands upon, consequently, should the resurrection be proven to be false Christianity will fall like a pack of cards. The resurrection of Jesus Christ separates Christianity from all other religions. Christianity without the literal, physical resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is merely one religion among many. "And if Christ is not risen," said the Apostle Paul, "then our preaching is empty and your faith is in vain”. (1 Corinthians 15:14) Furthermore, "You are still in your sins!” Paul could not have chosen stronger language. (Mohler)

“We ourselves are proclaiming this good news to you that what God promised our ancestors He has brought to fulfillment for us, (their) children, by raising up Jesus.” (Acts 13:32-33a) Saint Paul the Apostle preached these powerful words as he addressed his fellow Israelites and others in the Synagogue at Antioch. He speech was passionate, his faith was robust, and his surrender was inspiring. Jesus is risen and his conviction in Christ 's resurrection was unshakable.
When Jesus arrived to Golgotha, He was nailed to the cross and soon after dies. The symbol of Jesus’ crucifixion is what Christians live by. It represents Jesus sacrificing his life to save humanity from their evil sins. When He died, He was taken down from the cross and was buried in a tomb, where He resurrected into Heaven and was seated at the right Hand of God. Jesus’ resurrection symbolizes two things. First, it proves to Christians that Jesus is the Son of God (Curtis). In the Bible, Paul affirmed that Christ is declared to be the Son of God by the resurrection from the dead (Rom. 1:4). Second, Jesus’ resurrection represented an assurance that all of humanity is saved and forgiven for their sins (Curtis).
Later in Paul’s ministry gave a spiritual outline for understanding that Jesus' death and resurrection caused a major change in people's relationship with God--a relationship in which faith, rather than behavior, was the important factor. Paul believed that our works are unable to justify,
In 8:11 Paul refers to the "Spirit" as God. He is saying that if we believe that it was God who raised Jesus from the dead, then we will be given an everlasting life within us. This passage in 8:11 is one of Paul 's main points he tries to make throughout all his letters. His central focus on the resurrection of Jesus is what Paul wants us to identify with. Jesus ' resurrection marked a change from an era under the wrath of God to an era of grace. In Paul 's point of view, this reality changed everything. In I Corinthians 15:21-22 Paul draws our attention to the second Adam in Christ which everybody was made alive through. This is the "good news" and the cornerstone of Christianity that God raised Jesus from the dead and started a new era.
Today, depression ranks as one of the biggest health problems. It was shown that 6.7 percent of Americans above 18, which is around 15 million people, suffer from depression in 2005 and it is still growing (DBSA). Although there have been many studies in the past and today about depression, it is still considered mysterious and have many questions yet to be answered such as “Is depression a type of reaction, or is it a disease?” and “Is depression caused primarily by psychological stress and conflict, or is it related primarily to a biological derangement?” (Beck). People have not found an universal answer to these many mysterious questions, yet they all agree that depression is important and serious. Among all the disease, depression has caused the most human suffering. Depression, after schizophrenia, has the most admissions to mental hospitals in the U.S. and is five times more prevalent than schizophrenia outside hospitals (Beck). Aaron T. Beck, a professor of psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine who is regarded as the ‘Father of Cognitive Therapy’, defines depression in terms of the following attributes:
Jesus’ appearance to the women, the apostles, and other believers (1 Corinthians 15:6) proved the Scriptures and erased doubt concerning the resurrection amongst the apostles and all believers. The resurrection preceded Jesus charge to disciple all nations and Peter’s full restoration; furthermore, Jesus’ final appearance before the Ascension opened the minds of the apostles which enabled them to understand the Scriptures and to fulfill the command to disciple all
