2 Critically analyzing popular culture has changed my framework of perception. I have never looked at popular culture through all the different lenses. It was interesting to learn about popular culture in a way I’ve never looked at before. I thought popular culture was a bunch of trends. It gave me a different appreciation of understanding certain subjects in a whole new light. Bias can examine how people engage in popular culture. People may ignore different aspects of popular culture. I believe in what I believe in, but I can respect people’s opinions. When it comes to politics, I stay away from it all because I do not trust what politicians have to say. When it comes to basketball or professional wrestling, I can have many debates with people, and I might agree or disagree but I find examining biases can be important so that we can be aware of it. It is best if we are aware of what is happening around us. Analyzing popular culture critically can have a significant impact on the field of graphic design. By critically examining popular culture, graphic designers can gain insights into the preferences, trends, and cultural references that resonate with their target audience. This understanding allows designers to create visually engaging and effective designs that effectively communicate messages to their intended audience. One way in which critically analyzing popular culture influences graphic design is by helping designers stay up to date with the latest trends. Popular culture is constantly evolving, and what is considered trendy and appealing today may be outdated tomorrow. Graphic designers who are aware of the cultural references, popular styles, and emerging movements within popular culture can incorporate these elements into their designs to make them more relevant and visually appealing. One way in which critically analyzing popular culture influences graphic design is by helping designers stay up to date with the latest trends. Popular culture is constantly evolving, and what is considered trendy and appealing today may be outdated tomorrow. Graphic designers who are aware of the cultural
3 references, popular styles, and emerging movements within popular culture can incorporate these elements into their designs to make them more relevant and visually appealing. For example, if a designer is creating a poster for a music festival targeting young adults, understanding the current music trends, fashion styles, and popular icons can help them create a design that resonates with this specific demographic. By questioning and critiquing these aspects, graphic designers can create inclusive and diverse designs that challenge the status quo. This critical analysis can expose designers to different perspectives and provide a platform for social commentary and change.
