W09 Assignment: Elder Cook & Elder Bednar Teach a Friend This week I had the opportunity to teach my Wife, Emily Campbell, about the lives and testimonies of Elder Cook and Elder Bednar. This was a great experience because my wife served in Guatemala and it was good to discuss with her and to hear about how she taught people about our prophets and apostles in Spanish. Emily and I discussed how Elder Cook challenges us to seek God, serve others, and share our experiences with others while teaching us about our discipleship process. This idea serves as a reminder that our discipleship path is ongoing and that we should constantly be looking for opportunities to become closer to God and help others. My wife and I both attested to Elder Cook's status as a prophet and an apostle of God. My Wife and I also discussed Elder Bednar during our family home evening. I recounted the story about Elder Bednar’s father; although not a church member, he was supportive of their church attendance. He did not get baptized until David was married and living away for quite some time. My wife fondly remembered her dad as this story is similar to her dad getting baptized. We were both mildly surprised that these men, as extraordinary as they are, come from similar backgrounds, just like us. They are regular people with regular lives with exceptional faith in Heavenly Father. Jesus Christ and his gospel and because of that influence so many people for good in the world. Heavenly Father always amazes me that he can take simple men and turn them into shining examples that we can relate to and want to follow. Word Count: 283
