Reply two Hello Lucas, you mentioned the “Methodist movement being focused on the need for personal piety, discipleship, communities with advocated the Christian response to social issues like slavery and the prison system.” John Wesley states, “We are sinners who can be reconciled to God only by faith, through his grace.” 1 Wesley preached messages on salvation about faith that guided the Methodist Movement in past times. 2 His sermons on Salvation by Faith,” on what faith is through which we are saved through the blood of Jesus Christ. 3 Wesley’s Methodist doctrine changed the English Church through history, revitalizing and creating a more modern evangelicalism concerning faith from the legacy of Reformation Protestantism. 4 Until the late seventeenth century, many English Methodist evangelicals and pietists joined Wesley in the movement stretching from central Europe to North America, so he was not by himself. 5 All these messages fostered growth and change within the Christian church. Wesley’s messages on faith gave greater detail in how evangelical and pietist strands of Protestantism fit into the broader developments within the Christian church during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. 6 Bibliography Noll, Mark A.
