Family Home Evening Project—Plan
Student Name: Title or Topic: Have Faith and Be Obedient
Instructions
Follow the instructions in your course to complete this project. In the table provided below, you will create your FHE lesson plan. Once you have your plan written out, upload this document to I-Learn.
When referencing a passage, include the citation and paste the actual passage into your response. Your plan should include the following elements (
NOTE
—boxes will expand as you type): The Principle or Doctrine you will teach:
If we are faithful, diligent, and obedient, the Lord will provide a way for us. A scripture passage or reference (copied from the portion of the Book of Mormon being studied this semester) that teaches this principle:
And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandment unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.
A story, object lesson, or activity to introduce the theme or principle you wish to discuss:
List off the many trials that Nephi had to go through and how he always stayed faithful and obedient. Even though he has gone through so much, each time the Lord provided a way for Nephi to achieve what the Lord had asked of him. Tell the story of how Nephi is chosen to rule over his brethren through his diligence
and obedience to the Lord. Additional scripture references on this Principle or Doctrine:
1 Nephi, all of chapter 4 when Nephi goes and gets the plates from Laban per the Lord’s command. A quote from a church leader that reiterates or discusses the principle:
From Pres. Thomas S. Monson’s talk, “Obedience Brings Blessings”: “The knowledge which we seek, the answers for which we yearn, and the strength which we desire today to meet the challenges of a complex and changing world can be ours when we willingly obey the Lord’s commandments. I quote once again the
words of the Lord: “He that keepeth [God’s] commandments receiveth truth and light, until he is glorified in truth and knoweth all things.” “
Your feelings or testimony of the principle being taught:
I know that by following the Lord’s commandments, we will receive His blessings as rewards. We must heed his commandments and be obedient to the teachings of His prophets. It’s for our own good. We would not be asked of these things if it was going to not uplift or strengthen us in any way.
