Assignment 4C.1 - Ethical Guidelines
- Section II of the NAEYC Code of Ethics
Explore Section II of the Code of Ethics and list
five
Ideals
and/or Principles regarding what your personal ethical
responsibilities on observation are and why you chose those
specific ones (10 points).
The five Ideals and/or principals I choose are,
I-2.3---To welcome all family members and encourage them to participate in the
program, including involvement in shared decision making.
The reason I choose this Ideal is because I feel like having family members engaged
opens trust and creates security in the family since they know what is going on and
what their child is doing, it as well makes them feel important since they are involved in
decision making.
I-2.7---To share information about each child’s education and development with families
and to help them understand and appreciate the current knowledge base of the early
childhood profession.
The reason I choose this Ideal is because I feel that it is necessary that families
understand their child's education and know how their doing and how they may help in
any way. I feel that it is also important to share their child's development because the
parent will most likely encourage it and it’ll make the child feel smart and important
knowing they are doing something right.
P-2.4---We shall ensure that the family is involved in significant decisions affecting their
child.
The reason I choose this principal is because it is important to keep families updated on
big discissions including their child because it creates trust. No parent wouldn’t want to
know in a significant decision involving their child. If a parent is not informed they may
feel betrayed, and will not want to stay with the childcare provider anymore.
P-2.6---As families share information with us about their children and families, we shall
ensure that families’ input is an important contribution to the planning and
implementation of the program.
The reason I choose this principal is because it is important to consider how the to
consider how the child is and why they act how they act as well as making a plan
knowing some information about the child will help in knowing what the child needs to
succeed and creating a plan in the program that could help the child as well as support
the other kids around.
P-2.11---We shall not engage in or support exploitation of families. We shall not use our
relationship with a family for private advantage or personal gain, or enter into
relationships with family members that might impair our effectiveness working with their
children.
The reason I choose this principal is because it Is not efficient or professional to treat
the child differently just because of what your relationship with the family is. This could
make other children feel unwanted there with the childcare provider and it could make
that one child feel unwanted. This is unprofessional and is not acceptable.
