Logical argument is any

”
Answer (state narrow, broad, or adequate):

Too narrow. Definition limits the meaning to just a "disagreement between

For example, "showing your work" in math could also be considered a logical
argument even though it does not include a disagreement between two
individuals.

the passage (insert the numbers in front of each claim, use parenthesis to separate
claims). Set the indicator words in bold (if present). Underline or cross out the
superfluous material that plays no part in the argument. For each argument, draw an
arrow diagram representing the structure of the argument. (if you cannot draw directly
into the text, please draw on a blank page, scan or photograph it, and insert into the test

(1)Milton Friedman argued against the notion of moral responsibility of
corporate manages to benefit society
. (2)First, accepting that resources can be
distributed in society on the basis of social goals limits the freedom of the individuals
and undermines the rights to private property on which liberal society is based. (3)But
we must preserve social freedom. (4)Second, managers are not trained to know what
constitutes social benefit.(5) Furthermore, if managers tried to spend corporate money
on social causes, stockholders would fire them. (6)Finally, if managers used corporate
funds to benefit the society against the wishes of the stockholders, this would be like
an imposition of a tax on the stockowners. (7)But only elected government officials
should have the right to impose tax. (8)Hence, corporate managers should have only
one responsibility
—
maximize the profit for the stockholders within the law. (3 points)
