It will be needed for the assignment COMMUNITY INTERVENTION PAPER ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS OVERVIEW You will write a 5-page paper in current APA format that builds off the mental illness that you have been researching throughout the course as well as skills gained from completing the Community Health Needs Assessment Assignments. The overall goal of the paper is to describe the current public mental health threat and propose an intervention to help reduce and treat that mental illness within a community. INSTRUCTIONS The paper must address the following: • Introduction: Discuss the public mental health issue that you have been researching throughout the course. Describe and define what the disorder/mental illness is. Then you must provide compelling statistics that describe the magnitude of the issue (i.e., how many people does it affect, what are poor outcomes associated with it). • Community of Interest: After introducing the public mental health issue and the poor outcomes associated with it, you must then introduce a specific community of interest, perhaps where you live, and how that disorder/mental illness affects the specific community you choose. Make sure to also include potential outcomes and trajectories for the illness if no action is taken. • Proposed Intervention: Once your case is built for how large the issue is and how it affects your specific community of interest, you must propose a community-wide public mental health intervention to specifically target the disorder/mental illness of interest. Make sure to be detailed about the proposed intervention, including information like how much it may cost, how long it will last, how many people will be able to participate, how the intervention works, and how you will measure if it is working or not.
• Potential Outcomes: Next, detail the potential outcomes that may come as a result of the community-wide public mental health intervention. Provide potential outcomes 3 months post intervention, 1 year post intervention, and 5 years post intervention. • Biblical Integration: Describe why as Christians it is important to design and implement public mental health interventions. Also, include how the Church could potentially play a role in the execution of public mental health interventions. • Conclusion: End the paper with a brief summary of the mental disorder, its impact on public mental health, the proposed intervention, and the potential outcomes of the proposed intervention. Be sure to conclude the paper with a compelling rationale of why this proposed intervention should be implemented in the community of interest. The paper must also include a title page and reference page in current APA format. You must use a minimum of 5 scholarly sources.
