Future SMART Goals Knowing how to set goals using the SMART framework can help you succeed in setting and attaining goals, no matter how large or small . Follow the steps below to create two complete SMART statements. At least one of these SMART goals must be a work-related (or organisational-related) goal. Step 1 of 3 List two key professional behaviours or skills you would like to improve on in preparation for your Feedforward meeting. These should help you grow and develop as an industry professional. At least one of them should be work-related (organisational-related). Example 1: I want to be more confident to ask questions when I am unsure. Goal 1 : Goal 2 : Step 2 of 3 Following your Feedforward meeting, develop each of these into SMART Goal statements. Working out the SMART components of your goals creates a clearer path to achievement . Use the SMART system to define them: S pecific objectives—goals often have more than one objective. For this task, choose an objective for each goal that will have the greatest impact on it being achieved Try to be very specific, as it is very difficult to work toward the achievement of broad ideas. M easurable—how will you measure your progress toward each of these goals? Try to include quantitative and time dimensions to help you regularly measure your progress These should help you to identify whether you are on track to achieve your goals, of if you are needing to work harder to achieve this goal A ttainable—is it realistic, based on your current skills, experience and environment? R elevant—how does it directly contribute to the goal you’re pursuing? T ime frame—can you accomplish it with the placement/project period? Notes : Make sure you attach both Feedforward meeting documents. Include at least one work-related (or organisational-related) goal. CRICOS Provider Code 00098G

Specific Objective Measurement Attainable Relevance Time Frame Achieved Y/N Example 1: Approaching potential clients (To approach two potential clients every week starting from the goal sign off until the end of my placement) To approach potential clients Two potential clients in a week. This measurement is attainable as the company has ten thousand potential clients in the database. Approaching potential clients is relevant to my role in the business development department. Starting from the goal sign off until the end of my placement. GOAL 1 : may be focused on your own self- development or work-related (or organisation- related) GOAL 2 : must be work-related (or organisational- related) Step 3 of 3 Now it is time to take the SMART components and create two SMART statements. Statement 1 example I will approach three potential clients in a week after the goal is signed off by my manager until the end of my placement. I am doing my role in the business development department (BDD). One of the important elements of the BDD is to get new clients. This activity will contribute to the revenue of the company. I will do this by researching our client database to reveal potential leads. My research should include the company name, the contact person, the best time to contact and possible services that we can offer. Then, I will prepare the key messages that I need to convey to the potential client over the phone. Lastly, I will ring the client to organise a meeting. In my meeting, I will prepare the relevant materials that my manager and I will deliver. Statement 1: Statement 2: Page 2
Explain in more detail why you have selected these behaviours or actions and the advice your supervisor has given to help you achieve these goals. How have you incorporated this advice into your statements? Specific Objective for Goal 1 : Specific Objective for Goal 2 : Page 3
