(1) Based on the case, what in your opinion is the greatest benefit and drawback associated with
ChatGPT?
In my opinion, the greatest benefit associated with ChatGPT is its work within the healthcare industry.
Being able to detect patterns in long lists of data, that ultimately help save doctors time, and potentially
finding something that could be missed by human error, is extremely impressive. ChatGPT also has the
skills to act more human-like, and improved its software just to do so. ChatGBT also can help improve
customer satisfaction by being a better customer service representative, rather than a human doing the
job. There are many benefits that revolve around ChatGPT, but I believe that the negatives surrounding
AI outweigh all the benefits. For example, the drawbacks of ChatGPT that concern me are that it isn’t
always accurate compared to the number of people relying on it. In addition, it has the potential to ruin
our education system when young kids are starting to now rely on it for homework and tests. This is a
very powerful tool that we now all have access to, it just depends whether we should implement it in our
everyday lives, businesses, and schools.
(2) Based on the documentary, why is Replika popular? What concerns are associated with the social AI
app?
Replika is popular because the lonely people of the world feed off these types of relationships and it gives
them an ‘out’. People get to perfectly design a friend, mentor, or romantic partner on the app Replika and
live through this delusion that they are real. There are many concerns associated with the social AI app.
First, humans are becoming more anti-social within their own lives and living in a fantasy land. This app
has prayed on the weak, made them attached, and brainwashed them into believing this is real life. The
world of AI is going to change our present world so much. Jobs will be replaced, machines will upgrade,
apps will develop, but there's one thing that won’t change. Humans will have the social awareness that
these robots are close to having, but will never have. I believe apps like Replika are making our society
weak and allowing someone to live in delusion. Instead of interacting with their peers, people would
rather talk to robots. It is so damaging to our society.
