To apply course content related to the following Course Learning Outcomes:
Explain the purpose of network analysis in security.
Describe how to properly monitor the network and associated traffic.
Rationalize and contrast various network monitoring technologies and their placement on the network.
OVERVIEW: Topology/Addressing
Topology:
1 Win Server, 2 Win 10 devices and 1 Kali Linux device.
They are all Virtual machines.
Devices are connected to a vSwitch.
No VLAN is configured on the Switch.

Background / Scenario
In this assignment, you will work with PRTG and add Win2016 server to the PRTG.
You need to configure SNMP on the Server so PRTG can poll information from managed device and display them.
1)
Login to the PRTG.
A)
Create a new group and name it “Servers”. Skip this step if there is already a group called “Servers” in PRTG.
B)
Add a new device in the “Servers” group, as below:
Name: Win2016 Server
IP: 10.10.4.150
If a device exists in the PRTG, you can move it to “Servers” group.
C)
Add all available sensors to the “Win2016-SRV”
D)
Use following credentials in the “Credentials for Windows Systems” section:
Username: administrator
Password: Algonquin$123
Note:
You may need to configure SNMP and SNMP server in “Win2016_SRV”.

SNMP Community strings are case-sensitive.
Use your student’s name as community string.
To configure SNMP on Windows Server, follow below steps after login to the Server.
E) Search for “Services” in the Windows taskbar, search box. Then click on “Services”

In the “Services” list, find “SNMP Service” in the “Name” column, then right click and select “properties”.

Click on “Agent” tab and add below in “Contact” and “Location”:
Contact: Your college username
Location: CSA_Lab
In the “Service” section, select all that apply.
Take a screen capture.

To add community strings, in the security tab, click “Add”, then add your college username as “Community Name”, and click on “Add”.
Select “Accept SNMP packets from any host.”
H)
Add more sensors after selecting “Windows” in Target System Type.
Take screen captures from PRTG device list, showing groups, device and sensors related to the Windows Server.

Run Wireshark on PC_1.
A) Select interface with IP address 10.10.4.21 and in the capture filter use following filter:
udp port 161 or 162 B)
After some minutes, stop the capturing and save the file with the following format and upload it to the Assignment 2 submission folder.
Assignment2_username.pcapng
In case file can not be uploaded to the submission folder, open file, take a screen capture and attach it to the submission file.
Also, open file on the VM and show the captured packets to the lab instructor.

Upload your completed assignment to the Assignment 2 drop box in Brightspace.
Assignment will be submitted in Week 14 and will be graded according to the following criteria:
