Can you think of some gaps that might exist in other departments? How could these be corrected? What tasks should be assigned and what should be reviewed prior to the next meeting? ANS : The first step is to take a closer look at employee performance to identify skill gaps. This involves gathering data to determine competency and performance gaps and find root causes that need addressing. The individuals should go back to their different departments and review the current process in place and ways to improve the quality of data collection. They should develop a smaller task force and give appropriate training sessions for the staff. Individuals can be assigned the tasks like determining which vendor’s system is being used to gather and report the data, gathering any hospital established procedure, and reporting requirements to review and compare them for discrepancies. They should schedule the system vendor to conduct additional training for the staff on the utilization of the system for staff currently assigned to collect and/or report the data. They should schedule a follow-up meeting with all staff assigned to data collection and reporting to discuss the process. They should identify the potential problems and make suggestions for improvement. They will renew policies and procedures from both facilities to look for gaps and errors. They will also review policies and procedures with the staff involved in data collection.
