Capstone Project: The FHSU CORE (Common Outcomes for Relevant Education) General Education program focuses on students achieving specific, required learning outcomes. The program represents FHSU's commitment to providing meaningful, productive education to students. To satisfy the CORE requirements for Engaged Global Citizens, students will create a research paper that describes an emerging technology from their field of study. The student will then analyze the technology’s impact on the future of their field of study in both a developing and a developed country of their choosing. (Example: A student that is majoring in agriculture chooses to research and write about autonomous (self-driving) combines as his or her topic. The student will describe the technology, the benefits of the technology, and boundaries associated with implementing the technology. The student will determine if the new technology is deemed appropriate for developed and developing countries and will explain their reasoning with references.) The student should consider the appropriateness of the technology through the financial, technical, cultural, and environmental impacts of the emerging technology in both settings .
