Healthcare Organization Analysis
Analysis in healthcare organization is the overall data analytics collected to get
the overall stats of how the organization is performing. Boatman (2023) defines
organizational analysis as, “a process for evaluating the state of an organization’s
resources, operations, internal characteristics, and external environments.”
Therefore,
the operation can compare all factors to make improvements and better their business.
The types of services they provide. Address whether they are a primary,
secondary, tertiary, or quaternary provider.
MedExpress Urgent Care is considered a healthcare organization that is known
as urgent care. MedExpress provides care such as urgent care, wellness & prevention,
and employer health services (MedExpress, 2022). There are several types of
providers, such as primary, secondary, tertiary, and/or quaternary. According to Torrey
(2022), Primary is for illness, injury, acute medical problems, and referrals. Secondary
requires specialists with specific expertise in health issues. Tertiary providers require
highly specialized equipment and expertise. Whereas, quaternary care is considered an
extension of tertiary care, but more specialized. MedExpress is considered a secondary
provider because they are opened Sunday through Saturday 8am to 8pm for walk ins
and provide x-rays, DOT physicals, stitches, and more.
Who are their internal and external stakeholders?
3
All businesses have internal and external stakeholders. Surbhi (2017) explains
that internal stakeholders are those parties, individual or group that participates in the
management of the company, whereas the external stakeholders are those interested
parties, who are not a part of the management, but they indirectly affected by the work
of the company. MedExpress’ internal stakeholders would be their general managers of
all their facilities, all of their employees, any investors, owners, and board of directors.
Their external stakeholders would consist of their suppliers, patients, competitors, bank,
and marketing team.
What role does the organization play within our healthcare delivery system?
MedExpress Urgent care plays the provider role within the healthcare delivery
system. Other roles included within the healthcare delivery system include patients and
payers. All roles within the healthcare delivery system have a unique role and are
particularly important.
Who is their regulatory body?
MedExpress Urgent Care would have to abide by their regulatory body, which
would be the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services is known as a regulatory body in the
healthcare delivery system. The Regulatory Board Unit is considered the biggest in
HHS. Also, they provide suggestions to the President of the United States regarding
health and human services policy. Lastly, the regulatory board unit works closely with

state and local governments, and most HHS-funded services come from the local level
from state or county agencies (Niles, 2019).
Discuss other segments of the healthcare delivery system for which the
healthcare organization you identified is dependent.
There are other segments in the healthcare delivery system. The segment for
MedExpress Urgent care is considered a provider and/or specialist that provides acute
care. Other segments of healthcare may include hospitals, insurance companies,
primary care physicians, specialists, and more. All different segments provide a unique
and separate way of care. For example, hospitals are open 24/7 and provide a full
range of care, from sickness or injury to surgery and life-saving events. Whereas,
primary care physicians provide routine and preventative care, but are also there for
minor or acute injuries or illnesses. They do supply treatment options for chronic
illnesses as well.
In conclusion, the data collected for the overall analysis for healthcare plays a
significance in the healthcare business in hopes to improve for better business.
MedExpress Urgent care is a secondary provider who offers more than urgent care and
is open seven days of the week. They are also spreading around the United States and
continue to grow.
