1. The state of stress at a point is as shown below. (a)Draw the Mohr's circle of stress. (b)Determine the major and minor principal stresses.
(c)Determine the maximum shear stress and show by means of a sketch the direction of the two planes on which the maximum shear stress acts. (d)Determine the normal and shear stress on the plane inclined at 55° from the horizontal plane (as shown below).
