How will your knowledge of language acquisition theories enable you to support the ELLs in your classroom? Provide 1-2 specific examples of how you will apply language acquisition theories into your teaching.
There are many ways I can apply language theory acquisition into my instruction to benefit my
students. One way is to build positive relationships and implement culturally responsive strategies when engaging students. This requires thoughtful planning to ensure consistency. The classroom environment should to respectful of all students and allow all to feel comfortable while actively participating in their education. Language skills should be taught across the curriculum for all students, but especially English language learners (ELLs). To help
solidify language acquisition, ELLs should use their developing language skills across all subject areas (Kaplan, 2019). By implementing these strategies, it will be easier for ELLs to adapt to the classroom environment while improving their language skills.
