Running head: INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS 1 Internal Communications September Bonds Bellevue University HS - 461
INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS 2 Abstract Internal communication is something that is necessary for a place of employment to function as a whole. It helps the workplace be viewed as being ran by a whole company of people rather than just one individual. Internal communications isn’t just important in the human service field but, in any workplace really. In this paper I am going to go over what internal Communications are going to be most helpful in the Human Service field.
INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS 3 Assignment 2.7 Internal communication will help to have effective communication between all employees, allowing people to make sure they are up to date with their job duties for and all of their responsibilities for their shift that day. Written communication can actually be very productive when it comes to trying to effectively communicate with employees. Managers using memos or even written announcements is very effective for them. It’s an easier and faster way to get communication out to every single employee instead of trying to go to each person and tell them what needs to be said or trying to hold a meeting. Actually Brody (2005) claims that internal communications can help make meetings more problem-solving solutions, productive, helps to improve communication throughout the meeting, and help build the team and make them stronger. Having good communication throughout the company is very important because that’s how people know what they need to do for their shift or even better what they don’t need to do during their shift. Good communication helps direct employees in the right direction. It helps employees know who to go to and where to go to for help. Plus having good communication helps build an employee's loyalty. When employees are adequately informed, they can be more involved with their workflow, as well as have their own personal ideas and inputs on subjects. Brody (2005) also states that emails can be less understand than communication through meetings or groups. He says emails can even be considered rude or even to blunt. When staff tend to be left out of communication they start to feel left out or not part of the team. It’ll make them feel demoralized and unimportant. I know that when I am left out of things, I start to feel like I’m not good enough and like maybe I’m not putting in enough effort even though I am giving it my all. It discourages me and makes me want to just give up. I have been treated like this before at a job and it only felt

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS 4 left out but also didn’t know what was going on which made me mess up and end up getting a write up for it. So, making sure all staff is a part of internal Communication is helping make everyone part of the team and also help keep incidents down. According to Grove (2017) “ as Internet speeds increase, people are less willing to wait for websites to load, videos, suffer, and college to respond on their messages. While the idea of instant, communication isn’t new, the reality of its meaning has changed because of the hyper connected life we live today, we’re so much is happening all at once. Internal communication in the workplace is no exception. In order to connect and reach a new workforce that consist mainly a millennials and Gen Z, messages – especially during a crisis – need to be brief and precise, and ideally, there are no longer delivered over email”. Being able to make sure that having the quality and speed behind the messages being sent out it’s only going to make it a really effective way of internal communication. The right kind of speed will allow relevant updates and for communication to also be dispersed simultaneously. As the world changes businesses are starting to make policies and culture and top priority. In today's society acceptance of different cultures and also embracing them have become a very important and almost worldwide thing. Many employees nowadays are looking for companies that put value on those things. Internal communication on culture and policies is not only important but also a must have. A company's core value tells what kind of business they are and how they run it as well as how they treat their employees. If a business is telling their employees that they can’t do something because of a certain reason but then they turn right around and do what they don’t allow their employees to do. The only way to integrate internal communication into the workplace when it comes to values and culture is to practice what you preach! Making sure to lead by example and set a path for your employees to go down. I really
INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS 5 like when Grover (2017) said “your culture should be more than just a few words on the wall, it should lay out actionable guidelines, and promote a genuine feeling of shared purpose”. He’s right, just having pictures up on the wall with quotes about culture or other things isn’t going to help anyone. Being knowledgeable and accepting of others and their values and beliefs in a workplace is a must. I really believe like this type of internal communication would be very good for the human service field. The human service field is all about helping the community and also understanding them. Also, culture is a core value in the human service field and making sure other cultures are understood and accepted too. Many different cultures play huge role in today's world and also is a big part of the way the world works. As well as the human service field plays a big part in todays world. Internal communication is important for any field of work and any part of life. There are multiple ways you can manage internal communication and making sure to utilize it as well. Whatever way you choose make sure you understand the value of it so you can truly know how important it is.
